Rating: Summary: TOTALLY ENGROSSING...AND UNFORGETTABLE.. Review: I was looking through the library for a good read..and stumbled upon this wonderful story. At first I did have a hard time getting into it, but last night, with more than half way too go..I finished it! WHAT A BOOK!!! I am still thinking about chris and emily. Jodi Picoult is an amazingly talented writer. I love her writing style. She develops her main character's so well you feel close to them. I think she is one of the best writers I have read in all my years as a reader. I plan to read the rest of her books. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK< JODI!!!
Rating: Summary: Completely engrossing Review: This is the first novel I have ever read by Jodi Piccoult. From the end of the first page I could not put the book down. The author's ability to make you feel as though you know the character's personally is amazing. I stayed up all night to finish this novel. I have read every book she has written since reading "The Pact"
Rating: Summary: This is definitely a book worth reading... Review: I found this book just yesterday at the bookstore where I work. It looked a bit interesting so I decided to read it. I am now finished with it, less than 24 hours after starting it. This is by far one of the better books I've read in the past year. It is gripping, it really makes you think about what you are reading. I won't paraphrase the story, everyone else has done that, I will just say that this book is definitely worth the money you will spend on it. I will buy the hardbound version so I can add it to my collection!
Rating: Summary: Excellent but depressing! Review: This book is very well written. It's a gripping and realistic story about 2 teens and their apparent suicide pact. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for an intense and enjoyable (but not uplifting!) read.
Rating: Summary: Yeah, it's a page-turner all right! Review: This was my first read of this author. Although the book was a definite page-turner, the plot was multi-layered and the characters were well developed and remained true throughout the book.Ms. Picoult has an uncanny, accurate way of knowing just how her varied characters think and feel. Her portrayal of the teenagers caused me to revisit that time in my own life, and their interactions with family and each other was right on. The same is true with the adult relationships. She accurately portrayed the subtleties of married life and the threads of "what might be" between married couples. All of this and a great courtroom drama. I had to force myself to not read ahead or skip any part of the lines. It was worth holding back.
Rating: Summary: This is one of the best books I have ever read. Review: I truly enjoyed this book. It had a great story line, and I did not want it to end. I was captivated and involved throughout the whole book. It was touching and realistic in its conversations. I found myself sad for Emily and her secrets, and for Chris and his burdens. The special friendships with the parents was also an experience to share. I will recommend this book to all my friends. Great job, Jodi!
Rating: Summary: This is an excellent novel! Review: This novel grabbed me in the first paragraph and didn't let go until the final scene! Jodi Picoult unfolds this tragic story slowly, but the deliberate pace gives the reader time to care about Emily and Chris as well as their families. Mesmorized and intrigued throughout the entire novel, Emily and Chris's story has stayed with me several weeks after finishing it!
Rating: Summary: Great story, great characters, great book! Review: It was easy to get sucked into this book after reading just the first page. But it was what unfolded in the story, and the characters who came to life, that really kept me turning pages. A beautiful yet tragic elegy to adolescence, and all the emotions that stay with us throughout our lives.
Rating: Summary: This was the most emotionally powerful book I've ever read! Review: The premise of The Pact seemed so simple at first: nice families, highschool sweethearts, and a bright future for all. Jodie Picoult slowly unravels an emotionally powerful book that is absolutely impossible to put down. Once you finish the book, you will never forget the characters. This is the best book that I've ever read! If I could give this book a million stars, I would!
