Rating: Summary: Off the hook. Review: I read this book in one day. I just could not put it down. I started reading the book at work and I'm sorry to say that no work got done, please believe. Vickie did a great job with this book. You felt as though you knew the characters or you was a character in the book. This is a must read.
Rating: Summary: Let that Be the Reason You Buy This Book Review: My cousin gave me Let that Be the Reason and told me I had to read it. I couldn't put it down from the second I started reading it. It is like a ghetto anthem. It portrays the everyday life of a woman whose been scorned that gets back up on her feet and does what she has to do to provide from hers. It is the story of a lot of girls in the ghetto. The girl falls in love, has a child, the man leaves her with nothing and she has to find a way to make it to the top. Carmen is that woman and you will simply fall in love with that character. I got to the point where I could see no wrong in her even though I knew what she was doing wasn't the best thing. What's so dynamic about this book is that Carmen can be your sister, your best friend, the girl down the block or even you. This book is a "must read" and you better believe I'm reading every book published by Triple Crown.
Rating: Summary: Darren's review Review: If you enjoyed 'The Coldest Winter Ever', 'True to the Game', or 'B-More Careful' then you will love 'Let That Be the Reason'. I read a variety of fiction, from urban romance & crime, to mainstream fiction by authors like John Grisham & James Patterson. I don't judge a book by whether or not it is a good "Black" story, I judge whether or not it is good period. I loved this book because it pulled me in to the story from the beginning and gave me a reason to care about what happened to Carmen (the main character). If a book makes you root for the heroine and despise the villains, as this one does ... it's a good book! As a matter of fact I read it in 2 days and e-mailed the author to let her know how much I appreciated her work.
Rating: Summary: Imitators Drop Your Pens! Review: Finally a classis follow-up. Coldest Winter was reiging supreme, until that is Let That Be The Reason. This book is emotional, factual and unforgettable. I think it is the best street novel ever written. Yeah, True was okay and even B-More good with all the typos but Let That is literature and real. No fake endings here. I can't wait for the next book to drop you got a fan for life!
Rating: Summary: Off the Chain Book Review: I admit this book dragged in the beginning but give it a few pages, after that you won't be able to put it down. I really like this book and was able to relate to Carmen - do what you gotta do to stay on top. This book was a real page turner and had me contacting Vickie, the author, to see when part 2 was coming out. If you like books on street life and the struggles then you will really like this. Delano is the man every girl dreams of meeting. Keep it up Vickie!
Rating: Summary: Let that be the Reason we need to buy the Sequel! Review: Let me tell you this book was like that! it tells of a young female hustler "ON THE COME UP" she had everyday female troubles, but she was determine to make a better life not only for herself but for her child. The book was very easy to follow and I declare it is a must have and a must READ!
Rating: Summary: Excellent Review: Vickie Stringer's first book, Let that be the Reason was absolutely excellent! I loved it! I had never even heard of her until i saw it in the Essence Magazine. I try to stay up on books! Especially popular books by African American authors! And it was hot! You go girl-Carmen was an excellent character and i loved every minute of it! I even have my boyfriend wanting to read it! And he doesn't read books! Vickie you make sure you keep em coming because i am a faithful fan!
Rating: Summary: Female Drug Dealer................. Review: Not one of the best Urban Tales that I've read, but it was quite interesting to find out, what would happen next with Carmen aka Pamela. However, I found it to be very unrealistic how she kept referring to Chino after he had treated so badly. I felt that she was tooo naive when it came to the relationship they had. Other than that, this book was a pretty good read.
Rating: Summary: Let that bet the reason I loved it!!! Review: First I would like to start off by congratulating you on the success of your book and wishing you many blessings on your future projects! Girl, that book was da bomb ;o) I could not put it down without wondering what was going to happen next...I barely slept for three days because I didn't want to stop reading. I just knew Chino was a rat from the beginning... I even talked to Carmen as I read like she could hear me ;o)! I loved the way you reversed the roles and made a female the top baller, and the way you explained her life struggles were all too real! I really connected with her character in more ways then one. Hopefully your book will make someone stop and think before they choose that "glorious" lifestyle. I've seen it happen to many of my childhood friends...they get all rapped up in the game, live and spend lavishly for a short period of time and then on day it's all gone, faster then it started, whats sad is that the lucky ones are the ones incarcerated, cause somehow they escaped death and they just might get another chance at life. I wanna thank you for touching me so deeply and I really look forward to reading part two... I can't wait!!! God Bless you and your family always, and much love from new york!!! msecrets
Rating: Summary: Bring On Part Two!!!! Review: I really enjoyed this book. I was on going on vacation to Disney World when I started this book and let me tell u, Mickey didn't get any love from me because I couldn't put this baby down. Much props to Pamela aka Carmen. I could relate to this story and it was good seeing her put it all together. Chino is another story. So Ms. Singer, Chino has to definetely get his in the next book. Keep up the great work. I have put the word out to all my fellow readers about u. Don't let me down. Creator - All Mind Book Club - Holla!!!!!!!!! Peace.
