Summary: hmmmm...... ?
Review: it was ok, i was not quite identifying with the character,"carmen" for her to be so in love with her ex " chico" after all he put her through and she was still way to dumb for him. But there was a lesson to be learned in all this, so i guess it was ok.

Summary: Poorly written
Review: I accidently came across the novel after meeting the author at an Expo in Chicago. Unfortunatley, the book which is touted to be a gritty, urban tale was a little stiff, especially the dialogue, and lost its focus at times. Sometimes the character's actions were completely off-base, and the ending was totally rushed. The introduction of vital characters toward the end of the book was a crucial mistake as I wondered, where the heck does he/she fit in? This could have used a better editor and I only finished because I make it a habit of finishing every book I start. I hope Ms. Stringer does better on the next round.

Summary: It was okay....
Review: I've read through all the comments that were posted and I may be the only one who really didn't enjoy the book. Like another reader, I thought it was stupid when I first started reading it, but I wanted to finish it. Strong Points: It read like a diary and there seemed to be closeness between myself and the author. If felt like she was telling me all her deep secrets and I kept wondering if this was all real while Carmen was transcending into an entrepreneur. I liked how Pam's vulnerable side revealed itself every now and again, in public and private. It showed the humanness and softer side of woman in a male-dominated game. Weak Points: Because it is all a fact-based account of a real person, I didn't sympathize at all for anything that happened to her, because it IS real and we all know people who may have been caught up in drugs in some fashion. I am hoping that maybe some people will read the book and maybe get a clue about what they are getting themselves into if they are living a street life.

Summary: Let that be the reason girls shoudn't [mess]wit' Hustlers
Review: I think this book is really good! Vickie writes in a way that lets you feel like you're in her shoes. She did stupid things that made me wanna cuss her out during the book but thats what makes GOOD READS, when you can get into it like that. I Loved this book. It kept me reading non-stop. I felt like Pamela/Carmen was my cousin or something the way she had you living in her life and shoes. Triple Crown Publications is going to be the best publication company in the innercities for a long time. I just read "A Hustlers Wife" and loved every minute of it. I read B-More Careful twice and now I'm about to read "Gangsta." I can't wait to buy "Imagine This."

Summary: Let that be the reason you add this book to your collection!
Review: In this debut we meet Pamela whose alter ego Carmen brings her from back from being this pathetic cry baby, turning dates, pimping, boosting, and then ultimate drug lord! This is an all american girl! For the love of our children we as mother's do it all, to gain the respect of the one's who hurt us so deeply we always need that approval and only to find out that "they weren't worth it!" Chino was never the man Poo thought he was and Carmen knew it but it was for Pamela to see herself. As she rises to the top she sees the life of hustling and she details it as a reality the one that most don't see. It's more than ill rims, hot tint, blaring music, and new gear it's a job that has a costly retirement plan. She played her game well to be dimed out by a trick (and men say women talk too much!) If you read and you live you know that this is a book worth the read.

Summary: A Womans Gotta Do, What A Womans Gotta Do! !!
Review: Carmen is feisty, intelligent and desperate. This is the perfect combination to get her in a world of trouble. While trying to reach her goals of a better life for herself and her son, she becomes greedy. Carman loses focus on her original objective. She is a woman scorned by her one true love, Chino; and is not about to let the past repeat itself. Everyone has a hustle. Carman soon finds out that the drug game is not as easy to leave, as it is to get in. After a come-up streak, she finally lands in a place that is worse than her first situation. Now, her reason for living, her child, will be denied the guidance of a loving parent. At a time when she finally gives love a second chance with her new man, Delano, she risks it all; and loses everything., This book was outstanding. I loved it. It was fast paced, real and creative. I think Vickie was honest with her feeling and really got into the mind of a woman trying to be a hustler. She demonstrated how a mother will go to 'any means necessary' to protect and support her child. I can't wait for her next book. I want to know what happens to Chino, Carman, their son and Delano.

Summary: This book is tha rason and tha bomb.....
Review: Someone loaned me this book and my first thoughts were..."okay, here we ago...some more street non-sense", but I have to admit even after reading someone else's copy...I had to go out and buy a copy of my own. I had to have it as a part of my personal library.

Vicki Stringer wrote this book with refreshing simplicity, and with an authority and voice of someone who knows what the hell she is talking about. Let That Be The Reason...dosen't read like a story...it reads like someone's life.

B-More Careful and Dying Ground are my favorite street books...but this is one of my all time favorites of any kind.

I sit, wait, and anticipate the sequel.

If you don't read anything else this year...read this book.

Summary: It had me seriously thinking of the life...
Review: No book ever made me think I could pull that type of lifestyle off. The book captivated me and didn't let me go until the end. After the ending, I was still wanting more.

Good job Vicki, can't wait for your next one!

Summary: Off the hook
Review: When I first started reading this book, I thought this is a stupid book. I decided to continue to read it because I hate to start a book and not finish it.

This book put you in the mind of a true hustler. Pamela aka Carmen was a single mother trying to make it by any means necessary. She was in love with a man named Chino who refused to be the man that Carmen needed him to be. After their break-up and her going without she thought the best thing to do was become a hustler. Despite many adversitites Carmen became the best hustler in her area.

If I was to tell you anymore I would be telling you the book. Buy it you won't be disappointed.

I can't wait for the sequel to this book.
