Rating: Summary: Delightfully Wonderful!! Review: Judy Blume has never captured a more realistic plot than this book. I read the whole book in one day, it was too hard for me to put it down, I became too story hungry to find out what would happen next. I instantanously became a character in the book when I started reading. I wish my 'Summer Sister' days of not having a care in the world were not over. A diffferent twist in the end made the book more enjoyable, although I did wish it ended differently. I recommended this book to all my friends and now I recommend it to you. Enjoy it one rainy afternoon, believe me, you won't put it down!
Rating: Summary: Fascinating Page Turner! Review: I devoured this book in 3 days. I found myself transported to the vineyard while I was riding the bus, at lunch, waiting for the elevator... I didn't want the journey to end, but when it did I remembered why I loved Fudge in grade school or Margaret as I got older. Her characters are unforgetable! Blume is an enchanting author and I can't wait for the next book.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely riveting, I couldn't put it down! Review: This is such an incredible story of love, hope, and friendship against all odds. The two characters are such opposites that it creates a wonderful tapestry. I recommend this book for anyone who loves to read, and maybe even those who don't. I believe they will change their minds. I have read Judy Blume since I was a child and I was extremely impressed by this book.
Rating: Summary: What a great read! Review: I am not a big reader, but I bought this book for my daughter for her birthday. She loved Judy Blume books when she was growing up, and these she's written for adults are just as well written. My daughter could not say enough times how good Summer Sisters was, so I read it myself. I could not put it down. I have now passed it on to my friends for them to enjoy and enjoy they have. Everyone who has read it, loves it. Thank you Ms. Blume for another wonderful book. We are fixing to read Wifey.
Rating: Summary: A decent read Review: I read the book in one night, while on a business trip. It kept my attention, although parts of the story I found predictable.
Rating: Summary: sexy, fun and extremly flirtatious!! Review: this book draws you in from the beginning . . . strong characters, intresting plots, and a whole lot of sex. intriguing and fun. i reccomend it for lazy summer days.
Rating: Summary: Excellent take on teenage girls adolescent behavior Review: This is the first Judy Blume novel I've read, I'm typically not a fiction reader but found myself picking up "Summer Sisters" in the airport one day and found I couldn't get through it fast enough. I felt Judy Blume gave a wonderful description of summertimes spent at Martha's Vineyard. More compelling though was her translation of the relationship that evolved between two young pre-pubescent girls whom at one moment in their lives seem as though they can survive only through the others existence. Yet as in life and as for Caitlin and Victoria they manage to end up on opposite ends of the earth. The journey she takes her readers on through the relationship of Caitlin and Victoria is intimate, compelling, lonley and full of individual discovery. I will recommend it to my neices.
Rating: Summary: From a 15-year-old's POV: Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I myself am a teenager and I found it very enjoyable to read about two teenagers who grew up in a completely different lifestyle from myself. Don't let the adults who have reviewed this poorly stop you from enjoying this book. Any mature 13-year-old would be fully prepared to read this novel... teenagers are much more educated in so-called "adult" topics than many adults... especially parents would like to realize.
Rating: Summary: The ups and down of friendship Review: I am not a huge reader and when I saw at least 3 women reading it in the past few days, I ran out and got it. The minute I picked up this book I knew I was going to have a hard time putting it down. I often found my self in the middle of a work day sneaking a glance at the upcoming pages I would read on the train ride home. I am a 25 year old professional and I have never read anything that compares to my life as this book does. It is a story about the struggles of friendship, romance and death. I have never found a book that touched me the way this one did nor has a book ever made me cry. This book was a cross between the reality of a young womans life and the fantasy of being young again. I recommend this book without reservation. I wish I could find another book that made me feel like Judy Blume does in this book. Run out and get this book now, I guarentee it will bring back a ton of memories.
Rating: Summary: Not as I expected. Review: This book is suppose to gear towards adult women. As an adult woman, I find this book simplistically written, lacking detail, and poor narration style.
