Rating: Summary: The Amazing "10th Kingdom" Review: The "10th Kingdom" was a very well written book that offers the reader adventure, suspense, and even a little bit of romance. The story begins with Virginia and her adventures in the inner city urban streets of New York City. She comes across a dog that suddenly appears in front of her bicycle that suddenly changes her life. She experiences Trolls, a crazed half man/half wolf, and a dog that seems to understand what she is saying. After a series of near death experiences, Virginia meets up with her father and they enter an alternate world, also known as the Nine Kingdoms. Virgina, her father, Tony, the dog, named Prince, and a man named Wolf, journey through the Nine Kingdoms to recapture the Prince's throne and overthrow the Evil Queen. Through thier journeys, the adventurers experience prison, dwarves, goblins, trolls, magic wishing wells, magic mirrors, and magic. This book is an adventure in itself and is a pleasing novel that a reader of any age would enjoy over and over again.
Rating: Summary: The 10th Kingdom: an exciting tale! Review: The 10th Kingdom is here! This review is meant to clue you in if you do not already know about this sensational story. It is about the adventures of Virginia, her father Tony, Wolf, a werewolf, and Prince, a dog who was formerly a Prince. Virginia and Tony lead normal, boring lives in New York city until Virginia bumps into Prince on her way to work. He just came through a magic mirror from the 4th kingdom where he was being chased by a trio of trolls and a cunning werewolf who were sent to destroy him. These four follow him through the mirror, and Wolf immediatly falls in love with Virginia. After some events Virginia, Tony, and Prince go back through the mirror, once again trailed by the trolls and a lovesick Wolf. Wolf joins up with their little group, determined to win Virginia. The evil Queen meanwhile, who employed Wolf and the trolls, has joined forces with the Troll King to take over the 4th Kingdom. Rating: Summary: GRRRRFFFF! Review: Oh, my God! I saw all of the mini series on TV however I 'm a big book person so I bought the package and oh my God! It blew me away. I love the characters. They're like my family. I was spell bound when they stepped into the Nine Kingdoms, rapture on their date in Kissing Town and heart broken when the wolf said he'd go back to the Queen! Normally I find movies a little slow ,especially long ones, but this one I couldn't get up from. And it's TEN hours! Even my friend who's read maybe three books in her life read this in 24 hrs. It's phenominal. One of the reasons I think everyone likes it so much is because it makes you feel like you're in the movie. Literrally, I WAS Virginia for ten hours. The only thing that bugs me is that there isn't a sequel. However at the end of the movie it says Wolf and Virginia "were immediattely called back to the Nine Kingdoms because of a crisis" it also says in the end " and so ends the First book of the Nine Kingdoms! " Does that mean they will make a sequel? We can only hope so!
Rating: Summary: I read it over and over again Review: I first started watching the mini-series after watching the preview channel and they were reviewing it. So I decided why not? And flipped to NBC. Well, I fell in love with it. I missed a lot, and I regret it, but I thought it was wonderful. The story line was pure genius, I think, and whoever thought up the storyline is just great. I went out and bought the book about two weeks later, and I read it all in three days. I am still reading it, my fifth time now, and I never could get over it. It's just wonderful.
Rating: Summary: The 4 Who Saved the 9 Kingdoms Review: How do I love thee? Let me count the ways. 1) First of all, the book jives with the series. I for one am tired of reading books that are completely different from a film (Lost World, anyone?). 2) It is the mark of a great story when you identify and care about the people in it. When Virginia told Wolf she was going home and nothing he could say would change her mind, he started whimpering and my heart just about broke, no lie. (Also, was I the only one who was crying along with Virginia at the end? I hope not. That would be sad.) 4) I am a simple person, and all I seek from movies and books is a good time and maybe a little entertainment. The 10th Kingdom gave me that and a whole lot more. happy ever after
Rating: Summary: Creativity at it's peak! Review: This story was the most amazing tale that could've ever been told! The way Kathryn Wesley molded the lives of the character's, into fiction and nonfiction was genius! After watching the mini-series, I ordered the movie and book. I've watched the movie three times total and I'm going to watch it again! The whole idea of fairy tales are enchanting to me! I love how I can pop the tape in and just forget about the confusing world around me! And the soundtrack that came with the package is just amazing! The tracks are beautiful! I got so entangled into the plot of the story, I couldn't get the tale off my brain! I love this fairy tale! I give 10 stars! Sincerely, Samantha
Rating: Summary: Loved the series, Loved the book Review: I was unfortunately not "with it" and missed the enitre series except the last night when it was being shown on TV, and the only reason I saw the last night was because my best friend called and told me I should watch it (she'd been watching from the start). Based on the last night, I was very intrigued and decided, what the heck - I'll go ahead and order the package. Boy, was that one of the best decisions I ever made! I sat down and watched the series (over a period of 2 days) and fell absolutely in love with the story and the characters (especially Wolf! grrrr!). After watching the whole series - without commercials, thank goodness - I couldn't wait to read the book. Since the book came in the package, this was very convenient. I loved the book, but I would have to say that I liked the series better. The one thing I did love about the book, which is the case with just about any novel that is made into a movie, is the thoughts and feelings that the characters are going through are right there for you to see, and feel, and experience right along with them. That's something that no movie, no matter how good the actors, can do. I was taken on a glorious journey of adventure with Virginia, Tony, Wolf and Prince, and how nice of them to invite me along!
Rating: Summary: Just Amazing Review: I was not able to see the mini-series, so I bought the book to see what happened. It was an amazing story, taking interesting turns with the fairy tales that you grew up with. You follow the adventures of Prince Wendell, Virginia, Wolf, and Tony as they journey through the 9 kingdoms in order to restore the throne. It is a magical journey, and a journey that is wonderful to follow. I could not put it down. It is a must read for anyone who grew up with and loved fairy tales.
Rating: Summary: Great movie, good book Review: If you've seen and loved the movie you'll love the book. Virginia, Tony, Wolf, and Prince, fight to save the 9 Kingdoms from the Queen, the trolls, and the Huntsman just like in the movie. The book's plot is much the same, with the main characters visiting the kingdoms and meeting characters from fairy tailes such as: Snow White, Cinderella, Jack 'n' the Beanstalk, etc. There are slight differences between the book and movie in the plot, but that, in my point of view, only makes it better. The book also clears up a few question left over from the movie, and gives you a better point of view to understand why everything is happening.
