Rating: Summary: Seven More Please!! Review: The seventh in the series of Stephanie Plum books was as hilarious and entertaining as the first six. Ms. Evanovich's characters are so entertaining and the story line moves quickly, you'll hate for the book to come to an end. I would suggest reading the books sequentially to have a full understanding of all the characters and to appreciate this book even more, although it can be read as your first Stephanie Plum adventure and you would still thoroughly enjoy it. And what an ending, can't wait for the eighth book.
Rating: Summary: Ready to make a pilgrimage to Trenton Review: Okay, yeah, this wasn't the best of the Plum series, and the Eddie-DeChooch-getting-away-over-and-over plot got tiresome, but overall I still laugh out loud every time I read one of Evanovich's books, and how many authors can do that? Absolutely adored the ending, such that I would give Ms. Evanovich my eye teeth or maybe a kidney even just for the chance to read the chapter that picks up where Seven Up left off....whoo-hoo! So now I'm so curious about Trenton (a city I'd barely heard of before) that I'm tempted to mosey over there just to check it out!
Rating: Summary: Best One Yet Review: This was the first Plum novel that I read. After reading this one I bought 1,2,3, and 6. Seven Up was the best out of all of them! I would highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Another great Stephanie Plum novel Review: The Stephanie Plum series has you waiting for the next book as soon as you're done with one! It also doesn't seem to matter if you read them in order or not.
Rating: Summary: This series is my favorite sit com! Review: That last thing the world needs is another review of "Seven Up." However, after reading a number of reviews of this book, I do feel as though I have something to add to the mix. This series reminds me of watching your favorite TV sitcom. When you turn on the TV, you know exactly what to expect...the same central core of characters in familiar surroundings. However, you know that no matter how many times you have seen these people sitting in their living room, somehow each week something will happen or a dialogue will ensue that will have you roaring with laughter. I feel the same way whenever I pick up a Stephanie Plum book. For years, whenever someone would suggest I read this series, I always said that I didn't like funny mysteries. Finally succumbing to the pressure, I picked up the first book in the series. After reading it, I realized that the only way you can truly enjoy these books is if you give up the notion that they are mysteries. I find that the mystery is nothing but a backdrop for the antics of Stephanie Plum and the assorted off-center characters that are recurring characters and those that wander in and out of her life. I thought that "Seven Up" was a fine addition to this very funny series. Just sitting here thinking about Bob the Dog brings a smile to my face. I also thought the introduction of Stephanie's sister and the exploration of her sexual identity was brilliantly funny. This is a classic example of the subtle humor that Evanovich weaves into her stories. I find this to be the perfect foil to the more slapstick and far from subtle humor that I associate with Grandma Mazur. There are those who say that Grandma Mazur is getting boring and predictable. Did we say the same thing about the Estelle Getty character in the "The Golden Girls," who to me is a Grandma Mazur clone?" In the earlier books, another example of brilliant comedic writing is the description of the Buick belching its way down the street. At one time this vintage car, the size of a small tank, was my favorite character. I don't know about you, but whenever I think of certain scenes in this book, I still find myself chuckling. In closing, I can only say that if you liked any of the books in this series, you will not be disappointed in "Seven Up."
Rating: Summary: Perhaps the next title should be "Eight Is Enough." Review: After devouring the first six Plums in a matter of weeks, I anxiously awaited number seven. It seems the author rushed to publish. "Seven Up" is way below par. Weak plot development, under-use of the characters we've come to love, too reliant on raunch, very little of the sparkling dialog and chancy encounters we've come to expect, and no suspense. Disappointing. I'll probably read the next installment, but not before digesting a few reviews.
Rating: Summary: hilarious! Review: In the seventh feature of the Plum saga we are introduced to some new characters and all the old standbys. Although this book is a stand alone novel I believe the reader should read the first six books first. That way you can become acquainted with all the characters from the begining. It makes this book even funnier.
Rating: Summary: Liked the book, hated the reader Review: Ok, so, the book wasn't the highlight of Janet's career, but it was still very funny and I enjoyed it very much. However, I always buy the audio version too. I liked Lori Petty, LOVED Debi Mazer, but please don't let Tanya Enby narrate another Stephanie Plum book. Ruined it totally. Next time I'll check before I pre-order the audio version. If it's Enby, it's a no sale for me. I love the series. PLEASE bring back Debi Mazer. She's worth a raise.
Rating: Summary: A definite LOL! Review: I've read the 1 - 6 series and I think #7 is the best yet! I can't get enough of Gramma! She's the best. I would highly recommend this book for the beach or poolside! It's a great summer read that makes you feel like you're right beside her caught up in the zany action.
Rating: Summary: Evanovich and Plum going downhill Review: I anxiously awaited the 7th Plum novel since the 6th one was a such a riot. I should not have been in such a rush. The books were never much on plot, but that was forgivable because the characters were so much fun. This time, even with the addition of Valerie, everyone seemed to be doing the exact same things as they did in the last book(s). The action happens so fast - there's barely a reflective moment from anyone, including Stephanie. And we've been through the Morelli/Ranger thing before. They both had very little to do other than be part of the whole love-triangle thing. The most exciting part was Stephanie's mom deciding to go back to school and eating a whole cupcake instead of the broken ones. I'd like to see this developed more - maybe next time leave Grandma Mazur home and take mom out to apprehend an FTA! I know I'll read the next book, but will probably wait til it hits the library instead of buying off the shelf.
