Rating: Summary: Propaganda- or worse! Review: It is really sad that the late Barbara Olson will be remembered not just as an innocent victim of September 11th's terrorist attack, but for her extreme hatred of Hillary Clinton, that spilled over into a dreck of a book, "Hell to Pay". I am sure she was a very nice person while she walked this world, but judging by "Hell to Pay", she seemed a very spite-filled person, convinced that Hillary and Bill were Marxist insurgents bent on turning the USA into Soviet Amerika, and only by stalwart compassionate conservatism could the Marxist threat be eradicated(with ample firepower and bloodshed). It is one thing to dislike someone based on their politics, but to smear them with outdated rhetoric and accuse them of treason is quite another.
Rating: Summary: Exceptional Insight into a Troubled, Self-Involved Life Review: Power, that is the name of the game for Hillary. Barbara Olsen takes an objective approach and fills her biography with facts. Gradually we see this manipulative woman (who rather amazingly saw herself as co-President) evolve from fairly ordinary childhood and college years. Self-centered and self-pitying, Hillary has had a "take no prisoners" approach to life, she will forfeit anyone who gets in her way and never look back. She wanted to win and she still does, and she will attempt to do so regardless of the cost to others, or the loss of truth and honor along the way. Chilling and thorough, this book gives us valuable insight into a woman who has had far more impact on our society than she ever deserved. Written by a pure, versatile and brilliant intellectual, a super achiever, Barbara Olsen in her 46 short years has contributed far more to the world than Hillary could in 90.
Rating: Summary: Poor source of information Review: I was disappointed in Olson's research. Much of the information included was later found to be false. I could go on to say the book is biased, but that is made obvious merely by examining Olson's own political believes. My review is biased too, and I am likely revealing my own beliefs, but I am not a journalist or a professional writer by any means. I rely on journalists to give me valid and confirmed information. Spreading rumors as facts not only puts her in the same camp with the tabloids, but increasingly the same camp as many in the popular media. Of course, she's had months to confirm her facts and hasn't.
Rating: Summary: AS A "FIRST-lADY" SHE LACKED THE CHARISMA AND STYLE! Review: Not being an American, it may be a little easier to look at Hillary Clinton in a completely objective manner. Based on my knowledge and experience in psychology and considering what has been publicized in the media throughout the "Clinton affair", I must agree with what Barbara Olson has written in this book. One could watch the television and see Hillary and Bill standing side by side, all smiles for the benefit of the media and easily see they were superficial. At times, the lack of emotion and stilted conversation reminded me of two Barbie dolls - Ken and Barbie at their finest. While Ms. Clinton may have stayed with her husband out of love and loyalty, the real reason appears it was to feather her own nest for a political career - at any cost! I give the woman credit for pursuing her own dreams, goals and desires, but most women would have placed their own self-respect at the top of the list. A woman might choose to forgive one spousal indiscretion out of love and family, but how one could love someone who was continually unfaithful is another matter. Were there perhaps more skeletons in Ms. Clinton's own personal closet that have not become public? Ms. Clinton does not appear to be a woman lacking self-confidence or emotional security; therefore, one is left to question whether her true reasons for staying were for self-serving purposes, that is, to further her own political ambitions. Barbara Olson obviously spent an enormous amount of time and energy in researching the facts in this book and has given readers a bird's-eye view of what makes Ms. Clinton tick and what does not. Whether the reader agrees with Olson's portrayal of Ms. Clinton is a matter of personal opinion. This is a compelling and straight-forward book that cuts no corners and definitely deserving of a five-star rating.
Rating: Summary: Puzzling Review: David Brock, a self-acknowledged liar, provides much of the "evidence" against Hillary Clinton. It is implied that because Hillary had a friend who was a Stalinist, she must be one too. The case against Mrs. Clinton is built on such arguments. This book didn't make any sense to me at all and left me with a feeling of distaste.
Rating: Summary: Must read before the next presidential election! Review: If you are a FOH (friend of Hillary), this book will do nothing to sway you. If you really dislike her, you'll be eating it up. But if you are in the middle, this is good reading ( as well as "Bill and Hillary - The Marriage") The first 1/3rd of this book is not as insightful as the last 2/3rds. Clearly the author was not fond of Hillary. But after reading this and other similar books, who could be? Since we will inevitably see Hillary run in the next election, a MUST read to understand the candidate and her true beliefs. It is better to be educated before you walk in to punch that ballot.
Rating: Summary: Required Reading For Any Potential Hillary Supporter Review: Thank you, Barbara Olson, you left the world a better and wiser place. This book (once I got past Hillary Clinton's childhood and college days) read like a fast paced novel. The research and narrative are excellent. It left me reeling with the realization that Hillary Rodham Clinton is even more ambitious and amoral than her spouse and, probably, a good deal more dangerous. It is inconceivable that anyone who really knows the facts outlined in this book would elect Hillary to any office whatsoever. I sincerely hope that this book will receive the attention it richly deserves. It is important to our future that this woman be stopped. Oh, and by the way, I voted Democrat in the last election...so please do not dismiss this as a bi-partison soapbox review.
Rating: Summary: Tabloid-style writing Review: I found this to be a disappointingly shallow and thoroughly unconvincing book. Much of it is based on bizarre imputations and long-discredited information from shady and disreputable sources. I found the analysis to be viscerally biased and illogical. For example, much of the first chapter is dedicated to implying that there is something sinister about Hillary's "ambition," as though a brilliant, idealistic, dedicated woman like Hillary has no right to wish to actualize her monumental talents. Emotionally loaded and negative words such as "hardened operator" are used to describe qualities that I see as positive; for example, an ability to remain focused and unbowed in the face of adversity. And then there is the rather odd claim that Hillary has merely "persuaded herself" that she is "spiritual." It carries on in like vein and becomes increasingly tedious.
Rating: Summary: HILLARY CLINTON - A LEGEND IN HER OWN MIND Review: Bravo Barbara Olson! May you rest in Heaven knowing the good you've done to educate those of us who must continue to bear the Clinton blight. This superb and thoroughly documented effort exposes in detail the megalomaniacal, machiavellian mess that is Hillary Clinton. It's all here - the early communist connections, bogus children's interests, anti-parent legislation, and on and on. Hitlary's life is discussed from her middle-class radical youth to her salad days as a pretender to power in Arkansas and finally as our rough-and-tumble, fun-loving First Lady. Ms. Olson has left no chad hanging and no rock unturned (and I'm sure she had to look under quite a few) in her search for the truth regarding this large-hipped icon. The results are devastating. Highly recommended for discerning, intelligent people who are open-minded enough to bear the truth. P.S. You know you've hit a nerve when rabid Clintonites flock to pan this gutsy effort. Expect to see a plethora of robot-like anti-Barbara Olson comments from those in ultra-left-wing states who have obviously never read one page of this book.
Rating: Summary: No Facts, Just Opinions..... Review: Everyone has an opinion. You will get a full dose of Barbara Olson's opinions here. She seemed to do a lot of research, but the trouble is...she did not feel confident in the reader's ability to interpret. Her prejudices against the Clintons are loud and clear. The bitter resentment boiling within this author from working on a failed impeachment is apparent. I am no fan of Hillary or Bill Clinton, but feel that a chronicle such as this serves no one if not objectively presented. The only thing gleaned from this book by this reader is: Barbara Olson hated Hillary Clinton.
