Rating: Summary: Liberals hate the truth! Review: Power is to Hillary Clinton what cocaine is to the worst addict and this book proves it. "St. Hillary" has spent her entire adult life imposing her socialist views on others while expecting others (taxpayers) to pick up the tab. Hillary Clinton is probably the most dangerous woman in America today and has her sights set on two things, The White House and more of the money YOU'VE earned. Without power and taxpayer funds, Hillary Clinton would have nothing to live for. On a side note, the NYC Firefighters and Police Officers boo'd this woman off the stage recently and if anyone should be able to recognize a low-life, these public servents do. What does that tell you? Read this book and you'll see what I mean.
Rating: Summary: Hillary Unmasked Review: This was an eye-opening read to say the least. Even I, a proud member of the "right-wing conspiracy," was shocked by some of the things I learned about the junior senator from New York in this book. For one thing, Hillary was actually a Goldwater Republican in her youth. Another shocking disclosure is the fact that Hillary disdained shaving and using deodorant until she became the First Lady of Arkansas. I don't remember seeing any pictures of Hillary in her youth before, and now I know why. She apparently embraced the hippie culture of the time wholeheartedly. One thing the book did not completely clear up in my mind is the reason Hillary became so very radical so quickly. Clearly, she always had a plan to be a powerful political leader. I have often thought both she and her husband had no real political philosophy of their own, that they studied the political winds and grafted themselves to whatever issues seemed to be important to the voters. Barbara Olson shows us clearly that Hillary certainly has a political mindset upon which she acts; Hillary Clinton is not just a liberal, she is a dyed-in-the-wool socialist. This comes across most clearly in Hillary's passion for children's rights, a subject she has written much about. What comes through loud and clear is the fact that she thinks the government should oversee childrearing in this country, that families just don't know how to raise their children, and thus the government must step in to do their jobs for them. I had no idea just how radical her views on this subject were. I won't take the time to mention all of the troubling things Hillary has done in her life. Suffice it to say that Olson clearly shows Hillary's involvement in Travelgate, Filegate, Whitewater, and all the other well-known scandals. Overall, Hillary is shown to be a liar, a cheat, a foul-mouthed despot, and, indeed, a criminal. Olson shows that Hillary knew all along about her husband's serial womanizing, even searching his desk for women's phone numbers when he was just starting out in politics, and that she accepted the fact, knowing that he was her ticket to political power. It may well be that even she was surprised by the Lewinsky story, but the humiliation and betrayal she should have felt was subsumed by her drive for power; that is why she was first in line to defend her husband. This book shows Hillary to be the driving force behind Bill Clinton's entire career. While he tends to wallow in self-pity when he gets caught red-handed, Hillary refuses to let him sabotage her own political ambitions. Olson shows that Bill Clinton to a large degree owes his political success to his wife. That is why it is a marriage of convenience and, in the terms in which Hillary views the relationship, it is a very successful marriage. Overall, I felt this book was actually quite objective. You should not curse the writer for writing "bad" things about a person when the facts she presents are all too true. This is a political biography, not a politicized hatchet job, although Olson obviously disapproves strongly of her chosen subject. In terms of the restraint Barbara Olson showed, I must point out that she made no conjectures about the truly mysterious circumstances around Vince Foster's death. She did not devote a lot of time to the Monica Lewinsky story or delve gleefully into all of its lurid details. She did not come out and say, "Look, this woman wants to be President, and we just can't let that happen." She penetrated the mask of Hillary Clinton and let Hillary's own words and deeds tell the story. Hillary has the right to think whatever she wants, but the American people have the right to know exactly what her true agenda is if she is going to pursue a political future. Thanks to Barbara Olson, who was taken from us much too soon, we can all know a lot more about that agenda.
Rating: Summary: Too bad she devoted her life to trashing others Review: Well friends, again we see the right wing approach...bash character, ask questions and verify information later. It is a shame that there are people who devote their life to making others seem terrible and stretching the truth until it spontaneously combusts. As a college student, I have watched the makings of young conservative men and women and to put it mildy, you guys freak me out. Unfortunately for Ms. Olson, this is her last book and the one she will be remembered for. Did she ever talk to Mrs. Clinton, ask for her side? Highly doubtful since this is less a scholarly piece of work, more a right wing attempt at brushing aside the many good things that mostly more than make up for the bad of their tenor. (...)
Rating: Summary: Have Mud, Will Sling Review: This book is interesting only as an example of conservative mudslinging aimed at the Clintons. All the familiar, unsubstantiated charges are trotted out again, including the argument that Mrs. Clinton is sticking with her husband only as a matter of political calculation. Olson makes no allowance for the possibility that the former first lady may actually love Bill Clinton, his infidelities notwithstanding. Mrs. Clinton is also accused of using a senate seat from New York as a stepping stone to the White House. In fact, most presidents started out as senators or governors, why shouldn't Hillary Clinton? Should George Bush be savaged for "using" the Texas governorship on his road to the White House? Olson has the annoying habit of prefacing her chapters with quotations from Saul Alinsky, in an effort to portray Hillary Clinton as a dangerous radical. That's a tactic straight out of Richard Nixon's dirty play book, when he ran for congress in 1946. Nixon printed his opponent's campaign pledges on pink paper in parallel columns with quotations from the Communist Party platform. These "pink sheets" were mailed to voters in order to make them believe that the Democratic candidate, Helen Douglas, was a Communist. Actually, she was a mainstream liberal. Saul Alinsky wasn't dangerous and neither is Mrs. Clinton. It's too bad Mrs. Olson perished in the attack on the Pentagon, but her book merits one star at best.
Rating: Summary: Damning Review: This was the book that first let me really look under the covers of Hillary and Billy's sordid political past. Without the usual suspects from the Leftist Media able to provide flak, one is able to truly guage the criminal behavior and evil training and indoctrination Hillary underwent in the 1960's to date. (...)
Rating: Summary: Beware.... Review: the cover of this book gives away its flaw. whenever someone writes an "i hate whoever" book, check out the cover. why would an objective person choose such an unflattering picture? why not show them at their most attractive? why would they immediately want their audience to make the connection that an unattractive person is an evil person? the cover tells you how objective the author is. personally, i don't doubt that the clintons are flawed, just like every other politician. but i can never buy the fact that they are to blame them for everything that ever went wrong in this country, before and after clinton's presidency.
Rating: Summary: Scandal, Sleaze, and the Ruthless Pursuit of Power Review: Barbara Olson has written a novel-like account of the Clintons' public and professional lives, from college days through Bill's second term as President. She explains all the major controversies and players, from White Water, troopergate, filegate, travelgate, and Monica, from Web Hubbell to Vince Foster to James Carville. She recounts the tempestuous history of the Clintons chronologically, and makes it all comprehensible. Hillary Rodham seems to have developed a lust for power early in life. In the 1960s, when she met Bill, opportunities for great accomplishment by women were rare. Olson tells how Hillary became the brains behind Bill, his political strategist and an important manager of his campaigns. She defended his failures and foibles, putting the right spin on every newsworthy event in Bill's career. Realizing that Bill was an incurable, serial womanizer, Hillary decided to accept Bill as he is, in exchange for the vicarious sharing of political power. Indeed, Hillary has been Bill's primary defender and strategist for defusing "bimbo eruptions." There is no doubt in my mind, after reading this book, that Bill Clinton might never have been president without Hillary pushing him and running interference for him. When Bill's second term came to an end, Hillary was finally free to pursue a political career of her own. Olson asks, "Will there be a second President Clinton?" It seems clear that Hillary has made that her goal, and though seemingly improbable, Hillary is a survivor extraordinaire, savvy in political warfare and, when she has to be, thoroughly ruthless. She has to be taken seriously. This book will not be popular with Clinton supporters, as it is decidedly unflattering in its portrayal of the Clintons in scandal, sleaze and the ruthless pursuit of power. However, it has the feel of truth, and the tales recounted jive closely with news reports over the past eight years. The book is well written and interesting, a fairly easy read.
Rating: Summary: An important book Review: When assessing someone's actions, it is important to consider what the possible motivations are for such an action. Most of the reviews of this book do not discuss this. Many of the negative reviews despise Mrs. Olson's "hatred" and just dismiss her arguments (they have learned well from Clinton). The most sensical reason for Mrs. Olson's undertaking of writing this book is as below: 1) Olson is by any definition an "insider" to Washington, and received much information on the first "lady" that was not available to us (she was a attorney for the Dept of Justice, a congressional investigator and general counsel in the U.S. Senate). 2) This information (revealed to us in the book) led her to conclude that she would need to do all she could to prevent Hillary (an obvious Stalinist socialist) from positions of public trust. The above led Olson to write this book, which should wake us up to the dangers of the socialist agenda that is so prevalent today, especially among the youth and academia. The title itself (Hell to Pay) was not randomly chosen. It is exactly what will happen if one day we wake up and have not taken the message of this book, communicated in such an urgent and passionate manner.
Rating: Summary: Hellary Review: This book stirs up the true nature of a woman who is nothing short of power hungry. Is her intention to become President unbelievable...no. She is a complicated woman at best, but as the author documents with precision and style, at worst she's willing to trample on anyone who opposes her. This book opened my eyes to Hillary's participation in scandal after scandal that nearly destroyed the credibility of the Presidency. I highly recommend this book to all who are interested in the truth of the Clinton Administration and it's heavily laden scandals. I remember going to Sunday school as a young child and being told that using people to get what you want is not a good thing. After reading this book, I wished Hillary would have attend Sunday school.
Rating: Summary: Be Afraid America, be very afraid Review: All Republics last about 200 years. When you read this book you find out why our Republic is in trouble. Queen Hillary would rule by fiat. There are rules for little people and rules for her. A recent pole on the Drudge Report said Hillary would be supported by a majority of Democrats if she ran for office in 2004. Nothing in this book surprised me. Back room deals, whispers of mob connections, broken laws, perfect support from the leftist Democrats, and a slick husband all let her come to power. Robert Heinlein, in his book "Star Ship Troopers" gave a standard that all American politicians should have. Hillary Clinton is proof that American needed the Heinlein standard. (...)
