Summary: A calm during the storm....
Review: A close friend lent me Lisa Beamer's book and I read it in its entirety in one afternoon. No, the writing isn't the most erudite, and at some points it seems a little cheesy, but I was both inspired and uplifted by its essence: a calm during the storm. Lisa's faith in a tremendous God has carried her through her darkest hours-- of which there will undoubtedly be more.

Many critics choose to say "Oh, there are so many people out there who could have written their own book about 9/11"...but the outstanding difference is this: How many of those people can grieve and mourn WITH HOPE? My heart has broken reading the stories of precious families affected by 9/11 who are floundering aimlessly, trying to find some hope, some reassurance, some sign that their loved ones are okay and "in a better place". They've consulted psychics, attended various therapies, etc. etc. Lisa's entire strength comes from the fact that she will, with utmost certainty, see Todd again because of the decision they both made to follow the Lord in their lives. Can you imagine the amazing comfort that gives her, even on the worst days?

My favorite part of the book was that Todd and their marriage were not portrayed as white-picket-fence perfect. They were uptight type-As, and definitely had their moments. Her honesty is refreshing, and her message of hope and faith is clear. I am thankful that the Lord is using her to reach millions of people through the fog of this tragedy, and know that He will continue to bless her and her family for choosing His path.

Summary: An extraordinary story
Review: An extraordinary story about a very ordinary lady EXCEPT for her faith in God.

That faith and the strength she obtains from God allow her to charm us with her strength and the clarity of her vision.

This book will bless you and it will teach you.

Summary: Pleasant, easy, uplifting reading
Review: This was a well written, easy to read book. It focuses not only on the life before and after 9/11 of the Beamer family but also on their faith and beliefs that brought them through this awful experience. We learn of a man who was dedicated to his beliefs, his family and his work (often to a fault).

Lisa also shows how her faith in God brought her through this experience and provided her the strength to consider the needs of others that also went through this terrible ordeal.

Whether you have the same beliefs as Lisa or not, you'll find her to be a woman of extreme strength and courage dedicated to her faith. She is also strong enough for this book to be a vehicle of sharing that faith with others.

I found it uplifing and encouraging considering the traumatic events that caused Lisa to be brought into the limelight.

Summary: Moving and inspiring
Review: This is a remarkable story of a family with a profound faith. Lisa shares her story boldly but without being preachy. I pray that others who read this book will be motivated to find the kind of sustaining faith she has.

Summary: An inspiring account of a woman's walk with Christ
Review: Lisa Beamer's interview with a teaching pastor in Chicago was the focus of my church's Sept.11th memorial service. As I listened to the tape and heard her tell of her life before, with and after Todd I knew I had to read her book. Lisa has been appointed, by God, through the events in her life, to a ministry of sorts. Her courage, grace and, most of all, her faith, are an example to all of us. Her story demonstrates how any of us, at any time can have our world rocked by tragedy. There is peace and comfort to be gained by knowing that God is in charge and that whatever happens is part of His greater plan. We may not always like or understand what happens but we must trust and accept. As a Christian she feels compelled to tell her story in hopes of helping others who may suffer as she has. Anyone who thinks that she is in this for the glory or the money just doesn't get it! I am a Christian but I believe that even those who are not will benefit from reading this book. It is at times enjoyable, at times sad, at times heartwarming but at all times inspiring.

Summary: Add This One to Your List
Review: I completely disagree with the Switzerland review. I don't think Lisa tried to give the "right" interpretation for scriptures, but rather, the right interpretation for herself. I think she's doing what seems to be quite a tremendous job of coping with this horrific situation. Furthermore, if you'd have preferred to see her fade away from the limelight following the attacks, then why did you bother to read her book?! I found it to be inspirational and think that it's worth reading

Summary: Best Book in a Long Time!
Review: This book was excellent! I couldn't put it down once I started. Lisa Beamer became an inspiration to me because of her faith in God and her determination to go on for her children and to keep Todd's spirit alive even after his death. This book had no bad language or anything "off color". It was wholesome reading, informative to the reader as to what the passengers went through and the courage they had to fight back. This book covered a wide range of things I look for in a good book.
Lisa shared very personal feelings with the reader which was a plus!!
I thouroughly enjoyed this book!
