Summary: roll over
Review: Anytime tragedy surrounds a country, any written material that delves on that tragedy is always touching. "Let's Roll" gives us a peek into what may have happened during Flight 93. But after all that is said and done, what truly happened on that flight remains a speculation. True, this book gives us a glimpse of the person Todd Beamer was (and his life with Lisa), but in the end, the book does not offer much other than what was already reported by the media. The whole book could have easily been condensed into a 5-page magazine article. How much could you write about an incident that lasted 10 minutes? And though others may gush over this book, I suppose the timing of its release (a few days before the first anniversary of Sept. 11) contributed more to people's emotion than did the actual text.

Summary: Comment on my review - September 28, 2002 and about Culture
Review: I just read my review I wrote on Let's Roll by Lisa Beamer. I apologize for the number of typos. I believe I edited what I wrote, but it looks like I hit the wrong button on my computer when editing.
One more thing about this book. We all need to understand Culture. Not just ethnic culture, other cultures. I belong to the deaf and hearing impaired culture. Believe me few people really know about the people that live in this culture.

I just purchased, Firehouse by David Halberstam. Inside the jacket he says.."we come to understand the culture of the firehouse.." Lisa Beamer's book is about how her Christian Culture helped her in the face of tragic circumtances.

People, this book is about Lisa Beamer's culture just as if another person of faith or national origin wrote a book about how they dealt with the event of September 11 drawing on their culture. Christianity is what she practices it is her culture. No different than the "Culture" of Italian, African-American, Jewish, etc. It is no different than the culture of my community. I live by the seashore on the East Coast. Lisa grew up in the Midwest where their are many Christian Schools and Colleges. Why do you think there are sections of the United States that are called the "Bible Belt States"?

Please let us respect one's culture and do not make such negative comments about the way one lives their life. I would hate to think what the comments would be if a African-American, Gay person, Irish, Egyptian, Disabled or any other culture, wrote a book similiar to this.
Read or don't read it, and if you don't like it fine. I ask you, PLEASE do not attack one's lifestyle, one's culture. Again I would give this book 10 stars because I had the opportunity to learn about a lifestyle a culture other than my own. What I gained was a great sense of HOPE.
Thank you.

Summary: Good Read
Review: I must say that I am not a very fast reader but once I picked this book up, I flow through it in one night. Most of the book was already known to me with all the press but the details that Lisa adds on a personal level are wonderful. It is easy reading. I have been truely touched by Todd, Lisa and all of their family and friends.

Summary: Made me cry
Review: This book touches you, it gives the inside of a perfect stranger, a man ( and many others) who had courage in the face of fear. I couldn't seem to put it down, I even got it as gift for someone it was that good.

Summary: And the point was?
Review: I read about half of this in a hospital waiting room. I have no intention of finishing it. Half was enough to tell me that one more innocent victim can be claimed by 9/11...Lisa Beamer. She was victimized twice. First by the loss she personally sufferexd, then by whoever did the diservice to convince her that this book should be written. If there had been so much as a ceral box to read besides this, I'd have jumped on it.

No doubt that the passengers of any of the planes on 9/11 were heros. No doubt that the family has gone through hell dealing with the aftermath of that day.

Lisa Beamer's is one story out of thousands that COULD have been written (and one of dozens that were) -- and I wonder what the chances are that it ever would have seen print if it hadn't been for the media feeding frenzy that followed 9/11 where anyone who ever so much as shined a victim's shoes was thrust into the linelight and treated like their's was the most fasinating viewpoint on the planet? This book exists solely because someone thought they could make a buck off of it. I don't think that someone was Mrs. Beamer. I think she was convinced that sharing her story was a good healing thing to do by whoever cashed the bonus they got to get her to do it.

As a television interview or a 8-page Reader's Digest article, it's fine. As a book, it leave a lot to be desired -- interest, clarity, purpose and substance being among them.

Forcing someone's 15 minutes of fame on them due to a tragedy isn't necessarily inspiring, uplifting or even interesting. The whole overesposure by the media is just rather sad and shabby. She's probably a lovely person, but this only makes her look two dimensional.

Summary: Having Hope in the Stressful World we Live in
Review: I have not yet finished this book I am on the last 50 pages. I just had to come to the computer and write my review. Before I did that I read the others.

I look at this book in a totally different way that the other reviewers are looking at this book. Yes, I believe in God, I am spiritual but not one to daily read the bible. This spiruality helps me to cope with the stressful world we live in. As for Lisa - she is not over the top in her Christianity or Sprituality this is her and her family's way of dealing with life's every day mopments. both good and bad.

You need to have faith to live in today's world. This book strengthened my faith. I am a hearing impaired teacher who's life's dream was to be a teacher. I returned to college at the age 0f 39 and granduated in 2001 with a Master's Degree. I have been substituting for the past 3 years and believe me this book gave me enough hope to still believe that I wil teach in my own classroom and achieve my goal of reaching out to children to become life long learners. This book recharged my batery and gave me hope to contiune my goal.

Lisa Beamer has inspired all with courage and she truly is a Jackie Kennedy of the 21st century. I too pray many times during the day or week for patience and understanding for I cannot imagine getting through the wek without finding solace in God's world here on earth. Life is stressful and everyone has their own way of dealing ewith that stress whether they turn to gGod, excise or whatever, we all have our way of dealing with the good and the bad in life.

Thank you Lisa Beamer for taking the time to share your story. All of America was truly stunned that awful day September 11 and you gave us insight to understand what feelings what has when ther world is turn upside down. You took the time to reflect and realize that God needed you to move forward each day and bring a healthy child into the world and raise your sons.

Lisa Beamer is a remarkable women for the reavealing what really happened and giving us all hope for a more peaceful world. This book deserve 10 stars and many honors!!!

Summary: enough already
Review: Mr. Chairman, I think we've heard enough from this woman. Time for her to move on. Weep if you must, but make an end to sorrow.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Divine Inspiration
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed this book and could not put it down! It is written very tenderly from a depth of faith rarely seen. Lisa Beamer deserves much praise and admiration not only for dealing with her tragedy so gracefully, but especially for her powerful impact on everyone fortunate enough to read the book. She no doubt will introduce many people to the only source of hope for humanity and I applaud her efforts!!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Great Book
Review: I had a hard time getting through the first few chapters which were about their childhood background but after reading the entire book I realized how important those chapters were in forming the foundation for their faith. After those first few chapters, I couldn't hardly put the book down. It's a great real life story of how someone lives their faith on a daily basis. I've read many 'how to' Christian books and this had a bigger impact on me than any other. It's a wonderful book that I would recommend to everyone..young or old...no matter where they are in their faith journey.
