Rating: Summary: Free Speech is what this country is all about Review: Although I'm not crazy about Michael Savage's bombastic style, I'd be hard-pressed to dispute any of this book's substance. In fact, as many times as I found myself shaking my head over the language used, and the manner which it was put forth, I found myself nodding in agreement with what was actually being conveyed. The author may be short on style, but he has his facts straight. While I thought for a moment about whether to give this book 5 stars or not, I realized to give it any less would be a comment on the author personally, and not a comment on the book.
Rating: Summary: A WONDERFUL rant! Review: Michael says the things we're all thinking as we roll our eyes at whackos these days! As you can see from the few negative reviews here, those who try to criticize him fail miserably. I'll bet most of you detractors haven't even read the book! (GOTCHA!) Michael's searing message blows the knee-jerk politically correct crowd out of the water. And he does it with humor and wit! He's converted this Dem!
Rating: Summary: And a rather Paranoid Nation, too! Review: Whether they're paranoid, hysterical, eager for attention, or just trying to make a buck, there will always be those who will cynically pander to our darkest fears and insecurities, and that's what Savage is doing here.
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: I love the book but almost as interesting is to come to this site and read the reader rewiews. Michael does not inspire reasoned debate he inflames the masses. Like Ann Coulter his mission is not to win converts but to rub the left's noses in their own poop.
Rating: Summary: Awful - truly awful book Review: This guy is an intellectual car-accident. You can't help look at him, but after you've seen the guts and brain matter splattered all over the highway, you realize how sad and depressing it really is. After reading about three chapters, I became so depressed thinking how so many American's really believe this nonsense. How this type of person feeds on ignorance, fear, anger, and hatred like maggots feeding on a corpse. Its hard not to look at a car accident. The desire to see the unspeakable is powerful. But eventually, intelligent people realize why these things remain unspoken - they are wrong. Fundamentally wrong.
Rating: Summary: Right book for the brainless Review: This is the best garbage ever sold, IMO. Good for the brainless. Don't bother.
Rating: Summary: True Savage Review: At first glance, Michael Alan Weiner, or, as he's better known by his stage name, Michael Savage, seems like an improbable candidate to be America's angriest, most vicious conservative radio host. Born 60 years ago in the Bronx, Weiner has lived in Northern California for most of his adult life, making a living as an herbalist and nutritionist. He communed with Fijian traditional healers, got married in a rain forest and studied ethno-medicine at the University of California at Berkeley. He swam naked with Allen Ginsberg, dreamed of being the next Lenny Bruce and wrote a rambling novel about a half-mad alter ego. His son's middle name is Goldencloud. For years, he made a name cranking out a pile of books on alternative medicine, recommending bizarre remedies such as using vitamin C to stop AIDS and kicking cocaine with coffee enemas. Michael Weiner's long and circuitous road has taken him from being a scientist and entrepreneur, through stints as a hipster, novelist and aspiring comedian, to becoming the personification of straight white male rage. But just as his gap-toothed grin has been replaced by a row of airbrushed pearly whites on the front cover of his new book, he gives his audience a whitewashed version of his past. The real story is far more interesting, not just for its ironies and contradictions, but for the often disturbing clues it provides about the man now known as Michael Savage. He's gone through at least one political makeover. He's turned on old friends, or they've turned on him. If his semi-autobiographical novel is any guide to his own life, he's keeping a few skeletons in his closet. In the end, the picture that emerges from his books, from interviews with past and current associates, and from his radio show is that "The Savage Nation" is just the latest undertaking of a man who's spent his life trying to get the world to notice him. This book, like its opportunist author, is a shame and a sham.
Rating: Summary: Left-Right Biases Aside... use your hearts and minds! Review: I was a liberal all my life. Now I'm a die-hard conservative. What led me to such a dramatic change in my politics and philosophy? It's quite simple- there are only so many resources to go around. The economics of socialism/liberalism don't work (too much taxation is required to implement the ideals), the economy will stagnate. Conservatism is much more natural- people must help themselves or their immediate groups (as organisms must in nature). I'm the son of immigrants. We've worked very hard for what we have. I see what socialism/liberalism does every summer when I visit my ancestral Western European nation. The young have no respect for the older. They spend the day looking for their next hit of narcotics and their next bottle of alcohol. The government subsidizes every little thing, so people are lazy and feel like the government owes them everything. Their is no work ethic. People only think about leisure and pleasure and don't want to work hard. We here in America have lost the work ethic of our parents and grandparents. This nation is great because of blood, sweat, and tears. If socialism/liberalism dominates this country, we are through... America is no more, because America itself was founded in Conservatism (liberals should carefully read the federalist papers and study the history of the founding of this nation). If you are self-reliant, cherish accomplishment, proud, and can see through the dense fog of today's propaganda, then read The Savage Nation. As for socialism... remember the words of Democrat John F. Kennedy, "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country."
Rating: Summary: REALLY GETS YOU WORKED UP! Review: Michael Savage uses the truth over and over...only problem is... he's too good at it...and you find yourself wanting to kick nearby liberals in the [rear] over and over. It will make you outraged that America is going to [heck] in a handbasket and those who are trying to save it are ridiculed over and over by the powerful liberal mainstream media. The only downside is "too much reality here." I applaud Michael Savage for his dedication to trying to save our nation before it's too late. ...
Rating: Summary: Liberals are to blame for existence of foreign countries Review: I, like the honorable Dr. Savage DDS, MD, PhD, have never cared much for foreign countries and have always been of the opinion that foreign countries and the liberals in the US who sympathize with foreign countries are at the root of all that is wrong with America. As Savage makes clear, it is the evil hippy, peacenik, liberals dating from Lincoln all the way to the fornicating Clinton, that have made it possible for these ubiquitous foreign countries to exist at all. These foreign countries happily just go about using all of the Earth's natural resources which we proud Americans invented. And then of course they come over here and enjoy all the freedoms and comforts we have worked so hard to create and show nothing but contempt for us all the while. We must not let these evil-doers destroy our great conservative traditions of talk-radio, monster truck shows, Steven Segal movies, reality tv shows and big-screen TVs. We must be grateful to Savage and all the other great conservative philosophers who are ensuring that the liberal agenda will never survive in this one nation, under Limbaugh, with MSNBC and FOXNews for all.
