Rating: Summary: Silly name calling, zero facts Review: This book is a 200+ page rant against everything that inflames Michael Savage. Savage resorts to name calling far more often than he provides any facts to back up his arguments. Example: Tony Blair is "Third Way Führer Blair". Why? Because he is in the wrong party. Of course, Savage now thinks Blair is a prince (check his web site)... Liberals? As much a threat as Al Quada.Savage misquotes scientific research from the University of Tokyo (claiming it pertains to global warming, when it doesn't). He tells us that the divorce rate doubled in 30 years, when in fact it increased 30%. He attacks ritalin, as a way to slam Hillary Clinton, while ignoring the children who ritalin helps. Now, I suppose this book is primarily intended to outrage, as such it is a success. Perhaps Mr. Savage really believes intolerance will solve the problems he is presenting, I don't and therefore can not recommend his book.
Rating: Summary: He's not afraid to speak his mind Review: This book is generally an entertaining, quick read. Savage is an emotional, passionate person. His style is blustery, cutting, humorous and to the point. If you have ever heard his radio show, the book reads the way he talks. For many, "The Savage Nation" will be a wake-up call about how liberal, non-traditonal values are undermining the strength of this country. To liberals, he will sound like an hysterical right winger, trapped in the fifties, railing against social evolution and progress. But I think he presents his case rather well and I'm with him. Go Savage Go!
Rating: Summary: Enlightening Review: Savage does a magnificant job exposing the Left's true agenda, which is not looking out for the little guy but instead creating a pattern of dependency upon Big Government as well as there attempt to control all the "Sheeple" in their ways of thinking, living, and surviving. This is a must read for anyone who is concerned about the erosion of our Borders, Language and Culture!
Rating: Summary: Great Book Review: Although this book is very controlversial, it outlines the basic problems which exist in American society. Michael Savage is a superb writer with a gripping personality; that's also why his radio show has become such a success. I agree with most of the views expressed in his book, however some I prefer the liberal side on. People always talk about how he insults his callers and doesn't respect other peoples' viewpoints. The truth is, he will listen to a good caller even if they're going against his views, but most of the time the ones who call are liberal RDDBs who do not make valid points. These are the types of people he flames. Anyway, the book is a very interesting read, even if you are a liberal, just to expose yourself to the other side of things. It is a very quick book as well, so it won't take too much of your time, and he writes it in an entertaining and humorous way, as I found myself laughing out loud half the time. Very good read and I strongly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Thank God for Michael Savage Review: In my own experience, shortly after September 2001, Mr. Savage had the power to transform this Liberal to a Conservative in the span of three hours. His language is clear and honest and, very importantly, he wastes no time sugar coating his arguments to please anyone. His logic is sensible and on his radio show has shown him to be an effective debator with no time for the stupid. As both a speaker and a writer his demeanor is catchy and attention grabbing, quite a cure for usual boring stuff they stick on the air. His slogan, "Boarders, Language, and Culture," will go down in the annals of history. This book teaches a nation how to be defensive in the face of the Liberal agenda which is responsible for the demise of this great country. Savage uses his knowledge in the most effective way to get his point across and wastes no time as most analysts do. I will not go into details of the book, because the greatest expositions of the Liberal agenda are best left by reading the book. Most importantly, you'll find yourself saying to yourself, "He makes SENSE." Like Savage, I am a fellow San Franciscan and American, and his remarks make one realize the downfall of such a great city and a great nation and the doing of the Left Hand. "Right. Or wrong." -Robert. A Recovering Liberal. Thank you, Mr. Savage.
Rating: Summary: The Master of Anger Review: Michael Savage is a brilliant political comic. I listen to him on KSFO in San Francisco. He rivals our other local radio legends - Don Sherwood, Dr. Don Rose, Red Blanchard, et al. His book, however, falls short of representing the tantrums, tirades and hilarious moments from his radio ravings. The book begins with a gauntlet of hate mongering and name calling: "losers," "latrine slime," "one of the blights on the human race," "psycho-lib Commu-Nazis," "psycho nut cases," "pieces of dried beef in suits," "turd world immigration," "diversity is perversity," "RDDB (red diaper doper baby)," "moron ... idiots," "Rat Boy," "... the land of the freaks and the slaves," "she-ocracy ... feminist zealots" p. 37, "stupidvisors ... Sicko Frisco" p.41. That's just the first 41 pages. An overture of hatred? Not really. Savage represents himself clearly. "Comedy is social satire ... That's what God gave me the gift for." Savage makes me laugh. The sad aspect to his parody is that some people really believe him. It's cruel to deceive them, but such is the theater of the mind. Savage is a magnificent parody of a right wing red neck, full of excessive tirades, ballistic anger, name calling and hyperbole. Some of his favorite targets: Liberals: "left wing filth," "rabid leftist perverts," "left wing pinko vermin," "wacko left wing maniacs," "Radical rotten left-wingers," "dyed-in-the dung liberals," "left wants you to ... masturbate in public ..." Blacks: "Kwanzaa is a bogus holiday," "Jessie Hijackson." Savage refers to "us" (whites) and "they" (subversive minority). He claims that affirmative action, "... denied my birthright ..." and it's a "misguided liberal policy ... destructive ..." By listening to Savage, I know he's not a racist but you'd never be able to tell that from reading the cold hard Black-bashing print in this book. Michael, lighten up. Women: "femininization" "sluts ... chicks" "How to pick up a liberal woman ... in a bookstore." a picture of him with the wax replica of Barbara Streisand. His hand is on her right breast Clinton: He bashes them both. On his radio show, within minutes of whenever I tune in, he seldom fails to find some reason to bash either Bill or Hillary. Savage claims he's a "bipartisan basher" and denies he's a hater, but he defends his right to hate. Referring to the death of an unnamed "ultraliberal," he says: "I hated him. I hated his guts." P. 15 This book uses quotes and statistics but has no footnotes or index. I looked for his source of a quote he used: "... religion is the opiate of the masses." He attributed it to "Bolsheviks." I remember it from the philosophy of Carl Marx. No footnote where one was needed. I'd like to know his view on gun control, but he had no index and little to say on the subject. Savage is a dazzling political comic - incisive, satirical, intelligent and over educated for his radio role. He claims he empathizes with the underdog, the victims of injustice, and he says the type of things that you're tempted to say, but you won't because free speech is over-rated in a politically correct workplace. Savage is also pretentious, pompous, egomaniacal, self-righteous, judgmental, mocking, sneering, contemptuous, demeaning, obsessional and the biggest American chest thumper since Walt Whitman. His type of narcissism makes his egotistical counterparts look humble. I found this book to be a warmed over rehash of all of his old radio shows. I've heard almost all of this before. That leaves me feeling that I'm reading stale material. I wanted original, new, creative tirades from the Master of Anger, but I was disappointed. Reading what I've heard on his radio shows is more than redundant. It's just plain boring. It wasn't until page 158 that I found the Michael Savage I was looking for in this book. He described a brilliant anecdote about a politically correct woman who got upset about live fish being cooked at a San Francisco restaurant. She began to cry for the poor fish. Savage, ever the macho chauvinist, purchased the fish for this woman, took them down to the bay and released them where they were probably eaten by other predators. A hilarious bit. I laughed out loud like I do when I listen to his radio rants. But it didn't come until half way through the book. I plodded on to find another "laugh out loud" scene but all I found were more rehashed radio scripts. A reader who has never heard Savage might find this book original. Two words of warning to you, Michael: "Alex Bennett." He was a popular and sarcastic San Francisco morning DJ who grew so successful and arrogant that he challenged his viewers, "If you don't like it, tune out." I did. So did enough other listeners that his ratings fell through the floor and his job evaporated. Michael, whenever you start calling your listeners "morons" or other invectives, I tune out. So do hundreds of others. Bash all the politicos you want, but when you bash your own listeners - it's the beginning of the end for you. For all you Savage radio fans, this writing is an unoriginal rehash of his old radio rants and raves. If that's what you want, you got it. I wanted original material, creative humor, new parody, fresh satire - but I was disappointed. That's why I bashed it.
Rating: Summary: from a liberal demoncat-good work! Review: i listen to his show and find it interesting. i for one, believe we were much better off under bill clinton. however, it's always healthy to listen to those we may not agree with. lets face it, michael calls it as he sees it on an issue by issue basis, making him interesting and not predictable like limbaugh and that ilk. the book expresses michael's passion for preserving our borders, language and culture. as he says from time to time, he wants us to go back to the fifties, when the chrome was thick and the women wore the earrings. that may be like putting toothpaste back in the tube, but he makes his point and it's an interesting read.
Rating: Summary: Liberals hate the truth Review: This powerful book exposes the damage that the liberals are doing to America, and what should be done to save it. It is a MUST read, if you love America.
Rating: Summary: boring diatribe Review: I listen to MS's whinning (his real name is Weiner). Savage is his stage name. I didn't need to read the book, since reviewers say that the book is verbatim from the radio show. Mr. Savage doesn't admit to many things, among them his age he claims 39 but is actually 60, how vain!). He appears to be an unhappy, street saavy NY Jew(though he seldom if ever admits it) who has little patience defending his position to callers who want to debate him. He often cuts them off, outshouts anyone who tries to engage him in meaningful debate. The point is often lost because he is a master at deceiving his audience using buzz words and trigger points to dupe his listeners--much like a snakeoil salesman --who bob and weave through traffic at dinner time and often don't live in diverse areas of our country. He often calls in sick (he probably makes himself sick), comes across as a phony corporate media hate mongher, exploits, and twists current events to their satisfaction. He is good at using words to drive wedges instead of bridging the 2 sides that are demonized by a man who has benefitted by the same tolerance that he has hammers on about the left. He often claims he was the first to pen the republican credo: compassionate conservatism -- He claims alot of things, and he is funny -but only sometimes!
Rating: Summary: Lift the blinders and read this book. Review: This should be required reading for political science students in college. Remember, exposure to varying viewpoints is the key element in training the mind to truly think.
