Rating: Summary: egomaniac! Review: Savage is one of the worst hosts in radio history. He thinks he is always right, thereby closing his mind to new ideas. His book reads like a sleeping pill, ideas flow like a log jam in a river. Savage is not a great thinker, he is not a great communicater, and his views on his fellow human beings is less than respectable. Savage lacks the wit of Moore, the insight of Limbaugh, and the humanity of a toad in the swamp. Avoid this book, it will only make you regret you are of the same species as the author.
Rating: Summary: He's Such a Kidder Review: Michael Weiner, errrrr, Savage has tapped into that paranoid sect of kooky conservatism to which so many of Mom's basement dwelling loons subscribe. Weiner, errrr, Savage is kidding. No doubt Mikey is an intelligent snake oil salesman selling his wares to the rubes of the right. Keep enriching the modern day Music Men such as Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter and Weiner, errr, Savage. They all appreciate it as they privately chuckle at your dimbulbness.
Rating: Summary: Voltaire of the Air! Review: Three hundred years from now The Savage Nation will be read like we read Voltaire's books today. They too will understand why changes in our society had to happen.
Rating: Summary: Bases Loaded......... Review: And Savage "goes yard"! A must read for those interested in saving our great nation; Dr. Savage gives hope that it's not too late. One hundred year's out, its significance will be understood.Mike Englund
Rating: Summary: Good summary of his typical shows Review: Savage makes being an anti-Communist fun again. He combines the wit of the NY Observer with the sharp edge of the Resister. John Flynn incarnate! What I particularly like about him and his show is he's historically astute enough to dredge up the scandals of the Left's sacred cows, like FDR and JFK's families' involvement in bootlegging. A real education for younger listeners such as myself. The book is an excellent synopsis of his shows and I would sum it up as Cliff Notes for the Neo-Populist Right that is sweeping the nation. A throughly great read and if you maintain normal blood pressure, one can easily finish it in one or two nights. You'll particularly enjoy some of the urbane musings that punctuate the chapters. Like an art or restuarant review without the haute coutre snobbery of the NY Times. Although with me, I feel Savage is preaching to the choir, I would also recommend Reflections on the Revolution in France by Edmund Burke, Democracy in America by Alexis DeTocqueville and the Descent of Man by Charles Darwin for those students of history, government and just human nature in general. Keep up the good work and keep spreading the message! I would be VERY disturbed if Liberals STOPPED whining about Savage!
Rating: Summary: Warning: Liberal Pantywaists Will Be Offended Review: It's like Michael said up front: if you're more concerned with understanding why the filthy nightshirts committed 9/11 than with making them and their accomplices pay, then this book will not sit right with you. This book reads like Michael's talk show. In fact, I was amused because as I read this book I could imagine Michael saying these things on the radio with all the gusto and savvy that has become his trademark. This book is inspiring, not only because it unapologetically exposes the stupidities and failures of the contemptuous liberal mindset, but it also positively affirms the rightness and wisdom of those of us who get it: that the values of the founders of this great democracy are worth preserving, AND that the greatest threat to this country does not come from the people of some foriegn land, but from the liberal idiots who call themselves citizens. I too have had it with these folks, and I am prepared to go to war against the liberal ideology that is destroying mankind's last, best hope for a free, prosperous, and fulfilling life (for the liberal idiots reading this that means America!).
Rating: Summary: Michael Savage does know his history Review: For all of the faults people like to assign to Michael Savage. One thing is for sure. The man does know his history.
Rating: Summary: intellectually thin collection of cliches Review: Michael Savage has written a book which is an honest reflection of his believes expressed daily on his nationally sindicated radio show. Dr. Savage's thesis can be summarized in 3 words - borders, language and culture, and none of those profound conceptions can be defended by him with any degree of intellectual honesty. In fact, all of Savage's argumentation is presented in the format of his radio show - listen to the caller, abuse the caller (or the liberal, immigrant, ACLU, Democrat - to be fair a Republican at times), and cut the caller off. In other words, a classical case of the abuse of your attention. Majority of the arguments are not defended or explained, but just plain stated without support. This might be enought in a policy speech, but for a book such a collection of unsupported statements are not good enought. I find the book to be researched badly, presented in the style of a demagogue, and just plain boring. Savage does not have a conception of history which goes beyond his limited personal experience, and some of the facts in the book (too many to list here) are plain wrong.
Rating: Summary: The Savage Nation is political incorrectness at it's best ! Review: Michael Savage is bitingly politically incorrect and this reader loved his courageous honesty. Mr. Savage spares no liberal organization or sacred cow from his hatchet of truth. After reading this book, however I felt saddened by the fact that Mr. Savage alone cannot save our nation and conservatives seem too busy working and raising families to go out in street protests and mass civil disobedience... the very tactics liberals use to push their agendas. For that reason, liberals should not feel too threatened by "The Savage Nation".
Rating: Summary: A worthless waste of paper and ink. Intolerable. Review: Michael Savage is just the next in a long line arrogant, self righteous, shock jocks. I seriously doubt if even he can believe half of the slanderous lies that spew from his mouth. Unfortunately, there are those feeble minded automatons who, for whatever reason, will accept what he says as gospel. For the rest of us freethinkers, the book holds no value whatsoever. I will admit, however, that this book is definitely good to give you a glimpse inside the mind of an ultra right wing conservative who has nothing to say and isn't afraid to say it.
