Rating: Summary: What's the deal? Review: this book is good, esp. when the reader thinks about ref. made to it in Dark Gold and other books where Gregori is mentioned. But what's the deal with power? all the carpathian males are 'the most powerful', but then someone els is. what's going on? Lucian is more powerful than Gabriel (Dark Guardian & Dark Legend), who's his younger twin and two thousand years old. both are said to be legendary, matchless hunters & whatever, but now it says that their younger brother (?) Gregori is the most powerful. and Aiden in Dark Gold is held up to be the 'most powerful' too, but he's barely 900 years old, and his twin Julian is more powerful than him, even though he's younger (?) what's the deal here? there's too many contradictions between what's written on the back cover and what's in the book itself - and that goes for all of them. what's going on? and how can you be 'ageless' if you're 800 years old and not if you're like 1,000 or 2,000? (ref. to Aiden in Dark Gold) even so, this book is really awesome, and definitely worth your time. just don't read a lot of other christine feehan novels before this if you don't wanna know basically what's gonna happen. take a break, then read it - it's really good, in spite of the whole age-power conflict in the series.
Rating: Summary: Dark Fire Review: The very first book that i have read of the Christine Feehan collection was Dark Fire and after i read it i was taken prisonner to this collection. Every fiber of me was wanting to reach for her next book. I was addicted to it. I wanted nothing more than to hear the words. I was amazed of how captivating a writer she was. I am the kind of person to only read one or two books of a writer and then just lose interest but Christine has made me want to never stop to want to go on to the next one. If you are someone who has a passion for romance novels and love trilogies then go to read her books. They will want you to keep coming back for more.
Rating: Summary: Can't say enough!!!!!! Review: I just can't say enough good things about the 'Dark Series'. 'Dark Magic' was one of my favorites. Seldom have I found books that so very acurately describe "sensual". After reading about Gregori in a couple of the other books (I didn't read them in order) I was thinking that Gregori's story could possibly be too "dark" due to Gregori's nature....... I am very happy to report - Not So! CF put in enough touches of humor concerning Gregori's protectiveness & the other men's reaction to same said protectiveness that it really kept me entertained. This guy could be overly-protective of me anyday!!!!!!!!! :)
Rating: Summary: this is romantic? Review: I didn't find the book romantic at all. It was more like a story of an obsessed stalker and the stupid woman who fell for him. I also found the first sex scene to be more along the lines of rape than seduction. And near the end, when Savannah all loving says Gregori healed her wounds, I wanted to slap her and scream at her: "wounds he caused to begin with!" The other sex scenes couldn't be exciting for me because a) he's a rapist b) the same exact words were used for pretty much every scene c) the drinking of blood just wasn't sexy to me. I thought I'd love Feehan's books, but I'll pass on the rest as I've heard that all of the males are as alpha as Gregori.
Rating: Summary: Gregori's story Review: I love her books but they lack a bit of substance its sometimes just a little to convienient that the heroine always forgives everything and gives in completely to the hero. Even so i do enjoy her books.
Rating: Summary: A Magical Read! Review: Well, it's official. I am completely hooked on Christine Feehan's "Dark" series; I just can't get enough of it. "Dark Magic" is the fourth instalment in this wonderfully sensual series and it is fantastic. Gregori and Savannah are both vivid, rich characters and their story is full of passion, excitement, and danger. This is one book you do not want to miss!Ever since her 18th birthday, Carpathian Savannah Dubrinsky, daughter of the Prince of all Carpathians, has known that Gregori, The Dark One, her race's legendary healer, was her destiny. Unable to deal with the intensity of Gregori's desire for her, Savannah left her homeland for the United States, where she used her special Carpathian powers to become a world famous magician. But though Savannah thought she had eluded Gregori, she could not have been more wrong. Though Gregori was perilously close to turning vampire without Savannah's light to counteract his growing darkness, he selflessly decided to give her five years of freedom before claiming her as his lifemate. And now that those five years are up, nothing and no one will stand between Gregori and his destiny. But Savannah is terrified of Gregori, an ancient with unequalled powers feared by all of her kind. Savannah knows how easy it would be to lose herself in the hypnotic passion burning in the depths of Gregori's silver eyes. But most of all, Savannah fears the powerful and unfamiliar feelings that Gregori brings to life inside of her. As Gregori and Savannah try to work out a balance between Savannah's desire for freedom and Gregori's need to keep his lifemate safe at all times, Savannah slowly but surely begins to admire this great man, and finds herself wanting to make him happy. It is wonderful watching Savannah's acceptance of Gregori, and it is even more wonderful seeing Gregori, an immensely powerful and confidant Carpathian, completely disarmed by the thoughtfulness of one small woman. But though they have issues to resolve between them, first and foremost Gregori must keep Savannah safe from a secret society of vampire hunters lead by an ancient vampire. Gregori and Savannah travel to New Orleans in hopes of leading them away from others of their race and hope to destroy the group once and for all. Gregori's confrontations with these evil beings bent on destroying his kind fill the book with danger and suspense. All in all, "Dark Magic" was a pleasure to read. I became utterly wrapped up in the story of Gregori and Savannah and could scarcely force myself to put the book down. I highly recommend this book, and the rest of the series. So don't wait, buy this book today and get ready for several hours of pure enjoyment!
Rating: Summary: Dark series n.4 Review: Savannah, daughter of Raven and Mikhail (Dark Prince) is a travelling magician who has come to San Fransisco as the last stop on her tour. Gregori, her Carpathian lifemate has come to claim her, only Savannah is not at all sure she wants this to happen. Savannah is also hunted vampires who would like to claim her, and vampire hunters who would like to kill her. Gregori talks Savannah into allowing his claim by seducing her, and a little macho force. After sorting themselves out, they move to New Orleans, where they are embroiled in a plot by the human vampire slayers who have decided that what they really need to do next is vivisection of a vampire, and aren't too picky about their criteria for vampire status. (A young goth-scene human female is a current victim when Gregori arrives on the scene.) Gregori and Savannah become involved sorting out some of the local vampires, and trying to defang the vampire hunters, who have now expanded to include some of the scientific community (follow the grants.)
Rating: Summary: Magic that is VERY DARK Review: The Fourth in the series Dark magic has to do with 2 characters that have brief mentions in all earlier works. Savannah Dubrinski is the daughter of the Prince of the Carpathian's and Lily a former human(Dark Prince). Lily tried to teach Savannah independance and Savannah learned well she lives in America away from some of the demands of her world. When she was 18 (Dark Gold) she met her lifemate Gregori one of the oldest and most powerful carpathians. He is both a healer and a hunter Savannah is scared of him and losing her identity and asks him for more time. Five years pass but now has almost turned to the darkness. Carpathian's need there lifemates to even them out without them they become evil vampires or go into the light. Gregori knows it's too late to go into the light and is scared of what will happen if he doesn't join with his life mate soon. Savannah is frightened of losing her identity and tries to reason with him that she can't be his lifemate. the first time they have sex is ver violent because of this. Gregori is about to turn when Savannah pulls him literally back into the light. She teaches him to laugh at himself and loves him. The problems however don't end there Gregori thinks he manipulated savannah to be his lifemate and that she can never truly love him. He also believes himself a monster. Top that off with a group of humans who kill all things that appear to be vampires and a vampire that wants to kill them and Savannah has a lot of work a head of her. Not for the weak of heart but defintely worth it! The best in the dark series imho!!
Rating: Summary: Too Rushed Review: I love Christine Feehan's "Dark" series but this one seemed like it was rushed into print. Gregori and Savannah deserved more thought. Still, I do recommend the book because it is a series and you want to keep up on all the characters. Don't get me wrong I liked it but I wanted to love it.
Rating: Summary: My favorite of the series so far Review: Dark Magic is the fourth book in Christine Feehan's Dark Series. Gregori is the Dark One, the hunter, who is always alone. Thousands of years old, Gregori is on the verge of turning vampire. He is desperate to join with his lifemate, the only person who can stop his dark descent. All Carpathian males must find their lifemates to keep their darkness from taking over their minds. Failure to do so condemns them to life as vampires of legend unless they chose to end their existence and go into the sun. There is only one lifemate for each man and woman. Gregori's job is to hunt down these vampires and kill them. Now he is on the verge of becoming that which he hunts. Daughter of the Carpathian prince and his human lifemate, Savannah Dubrinsky is desperately afraid of Gregori. She wants no part of being his lifemate. While she was in the womb, Gregori touched her, manipulating nature so she would be his lifemate and his salvation. He didn't count on her refusing him on her eighteenth birthday. He finally agrees to give her five years of freedom before coming for her. She runs away to America, thinking she can hide from him. She becomes a world famous magician and thinks she has escaped him and her Carpathian roots. Unfortunately for her, he knows exactly where she is as do other Carpathians who have already turned vampire. Savanna has her hands full trying to convince Gregori she is not some weak woman who has to obey his every command. She is independent and wants to keep it that way. On the other hand, Gregori is used to giving orders and having them obeyed. What he doesn't count on is the way he wants to give in to her whims and the way his heart beats faster every time he looks at her. He believes he knows what's good for her and his first duty is to protect her, even if against herself. It was fun seeing a softer side of Gregori. The book moves to New Orleans, which is also fun. I recommend this whole series to lovers of romance. A word of warning: the series is very sexy :)
