Summary: Vintage SEP
Review: Loved it. SEP is always a "must have". Although It Had to be You and Heaven, Texas, probably won't be surpassed in characters or content, Lady is close.

Rating: 3 stars
Summary: Not up to SEPs very high standards
Review: I'm a BIG SEP fan, but haven't responded this way to one of her books since HONEY MOON. Susan just wasn't "present" for me in LADY, I found myself not liking Lady Emma, or supporting character Tori; usually SEPs women are my favorite people. I will say that LADY was better the second time I read it (also like HONEY MOON), but for an author I usually give 5 stars, this was a let down.

Summary: I wanted to like it more!
Review: I'm a huge SEP fan from the beginning of her career, but there was something about this book that left me lukewarm. I've loved all of her books. I especially loved the depth of her earlier books because you could always count on her to make you laugh and break your heart in the same book. (I actually enjoyed the more serious DREAM A LITTLE DREAM.) I understand her shift to "lighter fare" since that's what's selling right now, but LADY began to feel very formulaic in its approach. The book did get better toward the end, especially with the cameos from Dallie and Francesca from FANCY PANTS, but overall, it made me sigh. I hope this isn't the case of an editorial staff encouraging an author to write the same book over and over to be successful because that would be a tragedy in SEP's brilliantly talented case.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: THE FUNNIEST, ROMANTIC AND CHARMING NOVEL IN RECENT TIMES.
Review: This novel is typical SEP fare. It makes you laugh, It makes you swoon with Romance and it leaves you wanting more. A must Read for any fan of Great Romance.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Definitely a great read, but no excellence from SEP!
Review: The worst thing about SEP is that she has set such hight standards that even the slightest variation on her themes will get her in big trouble with her fans! Compared with the excellent "It had to be you" or "Nobody's baby but mine", this book doesn't quite make the grade. The hero isn't as smart or engaging as past heros (noone touches Cal or Dan), but the heroine is so much like Gracie Snow (Heaven, Texas) that it's scary. And while it's borderline believable that Bobby Tom (God, I really disliked that name) might really fall in love with a woman he consistently considered beneath him all through the novel (you can tell I didn't like this one, in fact, I'm considering reviewing it) anyway, the love story between Kenny and Emma somehow doesn't really come across. First of all, the remarks that he really is intelligent AND has history books at home don't convince me he has common interests with a British school teacher. But even allowing for the fact that love isn't a logical conclusion of common interests, I also didn't buy the fact that Kenny sort of "overlooks" the fact that Emma is basically too bossy for him because he thinks it's funny. Otherwise, the wacky secondary characters in SEP books are getting better and better!! Loved every single one of them and I'm also dying to have a book about Ted Beaudine!!!!

Summary: I usually DEVOUR SEP's work...
Review: but this one took me nearly a week to complete. What a let down. A well written story, but it contained NONE of the heat, sexual tension, and laugh out loud humor of "Heaven, Texas" and "Dream A Little Dream" (I HIGHLY RECOMMEND both stories).

The heroine annoyed me. I had no idea what Kenny saw in her. It was a chore finishing this book. I got the sense that Ms. Phillips forced herself to complete a story that had lost interest for her because she was on deadline and under contract. Well, I'm going to look for some of her earlier works and chalk this one up to burn out.

Summary: Kind of blah...
Review: This book was kind of blah and I didn't like the main hero or heroine. The main hero seemed like a jerk and it was only implied for in one line that what he did near the beginning of the book was wrong. Emma, the heroine seemed ok but kind of boring. Like someone else, I also didn't catch on to their chemistry and I wondered why Emma would fall in love with Kenny besides the fact that he's good looking. I found myself skimming the book until I got to the parts of the secondary story with Dexter and Torie, which I liked.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Adorable
Review: If you're looking for a fun read for a couple of hours, something that'll make you giggle and smile, you'll find a winner in this one.

Great book. Very sweet characters and a lot of love. Just my kind of book.

Keep 'em comin' Suzan Elizabeth Phillips

Summary: GOOD BUT NOT HER BEST
Review: Like most of her readers, I have read all of her books. This one, though follows her usual style, certainly is not her best (Try "It Had To Be You",or "Heaven, Texas", then you'll know what I mean). Still, one do have the usual delights in her books. Lady Emma sounds less assuring but I actually like Kenny. Susan Elizabeth Phillips has done a great job in creating this male character. Less sex scenes are in this book though a good one is already enough. What is most promising about this book (and all of her books) is that as the story goes on, Susan Elizabeth Phillips writes better and better and the characters are more developed. What I really enjoy most of all her books is the last part as how the man will try all his best to win the lady's heart. The way Kenny wins Emma's heart finally is fascinating.(You should TRY "HEAVAN, TEXAS" for the best example). Overall, "Lady Be Good" is a good romance.

Summary: ANOTHER GREAT ADDITION TO PHILLIP'S WORKS OF ART!!
Review: In LADY BE GOOD, we meet Lady Emma Wells-Finch, a woman trying desperately to disillusion a wicked Duke intent on marrying her. She comes to America hoping to tarnish her "good girl" image. Her friend Francy recommends her friend Jake Traveler to show the sights of Texas. Jake Traveler, a champion golfer recently suspended from the sport by Francy's husband Dally, agrees to show Emma around only because Francy promises to see if she can convince her husband into ending his suspension. When Emma and Jake meet, their attraction is wickedly erotic. Unfortunately, they can barely stand each other's presence most of the time. But soon enough, the love-hate relationship evolves into a flaming romance.

Jake and Emma are two of the most stubborn people you'll ever meet. They are outrageously hilarious at times in their struggle to figure out what they want from one another. Jake's sister is delightful aswell as she tries to hopelessly avoid the man that wants her. It was great to see how Francy and Dally, the beloved main characters of FANCY PANTS, were doing. I loved their son Ted and was thrilled to know that their once "ugly duckling" tranformed into a gorgeous hunk. I would love to see a story based on him.

All in all, LADY BE GOOD is a wonderful story filled with misunderstandings, war between the sexes, humor, and most definitely passionate love. I recommend it. You'll enjoy it. Trust me!
