Summary: A let down
Review: ... I couldn't finish it, partly because I read the ending. Normally, though, I read the ending and then finish the book more completely. This book seemed like something was missing, and now I know what: a solid main character. When I read a book, I like to identify with the main character, or at least feel that it has some depth. I couldn't do this here. Otherwise, the format was interesting and well done. This was nothing I would expect from Avi, based on everything I've read before. It just feels empty.

Summary: This is a really cool book!
Review: This book was very interesting. While others may have different opinions. I thought it was great. On a scale from one to ten I would give it a nine. This book is so real. It makes you feel like you are in the book. This book also has everything int it like humor, sadness, and happiness. I found this book most enjoying and I hope others will too.

Summary: You might consider this book less than great
Review: For our seventh grade English class, we read the book Nothing but the Truth by Avi. We found this book to be extremely boring. The plot was hard to follow at times and the main character, Philip Malloy was a spoiled brat. He complained about almost everything and his parents listened to his every complain. Throughout the book, the same event keeps happening. This novel was written through memos, conversations and letters. At some points it became VERY confusing. If you're looking for a book with a good ending, don't read this novel. Once something good starts to happen, it all of a sudden ends and leaves you hanging. We told our English teacher not to use this book anymore because we dis-liked it so much. We wouldn't suggest this book to anyone. Don't waste your time and money.
WARNING: MAY CAUSE EXTREME SLEEPINESS

Summary: It wasn't my favortie
Review: Although I liked the format of the book it turned out a little less than perfect. It started out innocent enough with the main character, Philip Malloy, starting high school and training for his track team. Then when he writes an immature and plain out ridiculous answer on an English exam his life starts going down hill, fast. He starts failing English and is unable to tryout for the track team. Then in homeroom one day he starts humming the national anthem making a nuisance of himself. He gets sent to the principal's office two days in a row and gets suspended. The whole thing gets out in the media and he's trapped in the middle with all of him lies. I frankly didn't like Philip or many of the characters. The ending of the book was quite a surprise although the book lacked something special.

Summary: An Awesome Book!
Review: I read Nothing But The Truth by Avi. I found the book to be very entertaining and a great example of real life. The book is about a boy named Phillip. During homeroom they play the Star Spangled Banner and Phillip started humming to annoy his teacher. He feels an animosity toward her because he is failing English. Ms. Narwin, who is also Phillip's English teacher, sent him out of homeroom two days in a row. The assistant principal ends up suspending him for being a disturbance in class. His parents think its ridiculous that their son can't participate in a random act of patriotism. The issue becomes nationwide. Reporters start writing biased articles and the story gets totally twisted.

This book is a great example of how a story can get twisted if everyone doesn't tell the truth, and nothing but the truth. I enjoyed the book a lot. It's written in documentary form with memos, letters, and conversations. I highly recommend this book for 12 year olds and up because of some hard vocabulary. It's a quick and enjoyable read! I hope you will read it soon!

Summary: A book that teaches you a lesson on lying!
Review: Nothing but the truth is a great book that can teach you a great lesson. It teaches the importance of not lying because it can affect everyone even if you think it can't. If you read the book, read it slowly because you will probably not understand it especially if you rush through books. Also try to stay on what the people in the book are saying, especially Phil, so you can see where all the lying started, and after you read the book you can have a pretend trial on the Nothing But The Truth and try to make some people look guilty and have fun with it. So try and read this book and remember lying is not a great thing to do because it can happen in newspapers and you don't know what to do after that!!

Summary: Not So Great~!!!
Review: I didn't really think that Nothing But The Truth was a medal winning book because it truly bored me a lot. I didn't like the fact that it was a document book. That sort of confused me. The book could've been more realistic and funnier. First it was like a boy with good running skills and too much pride. Later it was a bit better but at the end, it just bored me and came to a dead end. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone because it's too boring and I'm afraid that they might start it and not finish it because I hate people like that, read a book and not finish it~!!! Gets on my nerves~!!!

Summary: Lies, Lies, Lies
Review: I think the book Nothing But The Truth was an okay book. The only good moral of the book is that lying doesn't get you anywhere. When Phil lied all those times, the lies just got bigger and the situation got worse. I think the book can tell kids that if you lie, be careful of what you lie about or just don't lie at all.

Summary: Lies can hurt other people and thier lives
Review: I thought this book was good because it had a good moral about how a little lie can hurt other people. I think the saddest part of this book was the ending because at the end Philip transferred to a new school, and they asked him to sing the national anthem, and he started to cry and replied "I dont no the words."

Summary: Godzilla's Monster Review
Review: I think this book was pretty good. This book is about a boy named Philip who gets into a lot of trouble and ruins his career as track team member. Any way this book is great; it isn't boring or dumb. It's enjoying and fun to read. Also this book is not long; it should take around 2 weeks if you like to read a lot. So if you're out looking for a book, you should get this one.
