Summary: Nothing But The Truth Review
Review: Nothing But the Truth BY AVI is a really good book. the charaters are amazing and im sure you will find more around you.The charaters in the book such as Philip are everyday teenagers and you know how we are. They want revenge. But not everyone through out this book has the same opinion as Philip well almost no one dosen't. Mrs. Narwin is a good teacher and fair to all of her students she don't treat any of them different she is a honest and true woman.
To find out more on Nothing But the truth you should read it. It's a good book and I would recommend it for kids of all ages.

Summary: Snowballing into an avalanche..the products of entrenchment
Review: One very small problem (humming to the National Anthem) is set at the top of a gigantic mountain (obedience to authority), and pushed over the edge with a nudge (removal from class). The very small problem by itself is insignificant. Let Phillip hum - he'll stop soon enough. The mountain by itself has been in place, and will continue to be in place, for a very long time. There are bigger battles and more important wars for Ms. Narwin to fight. And the nudge proves it is more effective to take care of problems by embracing them instead of by pushing them off on others. Had Ms. Narwin asked Phillip to stay a moment after homeroom, explain her position in calmer tones, or suggest Phillip lead the class in the singing of the National Anthem the next day, he would likely have declined the invitation, and all would be well.

But, because both people become entrenched (dug into their position, like stuck in a rut), they trudge along a path of mutual destruction and pain, devastation, and shame. The characters on the sidelines continue to complicate an already foolish obstacle course, in which Phillip and Ms. Narwin become hapless runners. It is no longer their race - they become rather pathetic instruments for other peoples' profit or loss, and both victims in their own rights.

While the chain of events is imaginative, that chain is also stretched a little far at times. Too many people are too one-sided in their response to the situation, but the book certainly does explore what can happen when a hot topic finds even the most unlikely (and unwilling) champions or representatives.

All in all, an enjoyable read, though passions for one side or the other can draw the reader into making the same reactionary responses which claim the senses of the characters in the book.

Summary: A great book to read!
Review: Do you like books about teens? Well if you do then is the book for you it's called "Nothing but the truth" by Avi. It's about a boy that doesn't like a teacher. He feels she doesn't make her class interesting she also gave him a "D" when he wanted to be on tack and everyone knows you can't play a sport with D and F's. He gets really mad at her becouse he thinks that she gave him a "D" for no reason, when the reason was because he made a bad grade on a report and just plainly did not get good grades in her class.he decides that he's going to be mean. While the Star Spangled banner was on your susposed to stand at respectful silence but to get on her nerves he started to hum ,and got in trouble . What do you think will happen find out I know I would want to if I were you !

Summary: A great book to read, by amanda smith
Review: Do you like to read books? Then how about to pick up the book ''Nothing But The Truth''. The book is about a ninth grader boy, Phillip Mallory who gets suspend for singing the star spangled banner at Harrison High School. Well he tells his dad and mom a lie about why he got suspend. Then his dad tells a reporter, so the lie gets bigger and bigge. One of his teachers, Ms. Narwin, gets into trouble because of Phillip's lie, and almost gets her fired. Phillip does not ever want to go back.
The reason he makes up this lie is becuse he fails one of his classes, Ms. Narwin's class. So he got mad. He doesn't want to tell his father the truth, because he tought that his father would get mad, so he lied.

Summary: This is a GREAT book!!!!!!!!!!!
Review: 14 year old Phillip loves track. He got 1 D in his Literature class. So that caused him not to run track. Do you think that's right?? I don't. Every morning in school, the annoucements would come on. After the annoucements went off the Star Spangeled Banner would come on. Well Phillip loved to hum along because he didn't know the words to it.

Summary: Melody's Review!!!
Review: This book is about a boy named Philip Malloy. It all starts when he doesn't make the track team because he is failing in Literature. Later on he gets switched homerooms and his new homeroom teacher is his Literature teacher, who is failing him. Every morning on the announcements, the Star Spangled Banner is played. Philip sings or hums along with the tune. Later on he gets suspended for this. His father and himself go to a neighbors house who is almost a part of the school board. They get that teacher fired and Philip gets a little piece of fame in the headlines. This was a wonderful story and I think everyone should read it.

Summary: This Book Reads Like a Runaway Train
Review: Let me start by saying.... for an educator this book is both hilarious and frightening. A fellow teacher suggested that I read this book. He said, "This is just like something that might happen in our school." He was so right!
Life is all about perspectives. Phillip the disgruntled high school student is a victim of shifting perspectives. Phillip sees his plight in one way. The reporter sees it from a distinctly different one. His father sees it in yet another way. His teacher sees it in another way altogether... I could go on and on.
Phillip the freedom fighter? Or is he just a foolish student swept up in a whirlwind? As you read this unique story you'll get the message.
Avi does a brilliant job of keeping this narrative rolling in a documentary style. This book is unlike any other. It has a transcript style that roars along at a breakneck pace.
The reason this book is so relevent is that we all deal with conflict in our lives. Something very small and insignificant can become something so huge! This book is all about how things get blown out of proportion. And how we deal with them, or don't deal with them! It is a real slice of life.
I recommend it highly. If you have ever done something you regret but didn't have the guts to back down you'll understand Philips quandry!
