Rating: Summary: This book will change your life! Review: Iyanla Vanzant has outdone herself. This emminently readable self-help book teaches you how to help yourself obtain the life you want. Working from the basement through "Love's House" up to the attic, you will uncover how you got to where you are now, what it is you want in the future and how to get there. While the cover alludes to finding perfect love with another, the book focuses on learning to love yourself and to live in the spirit of love in everything you do. The author believes that from that will come the life, and love, you want. A joy to read and a companion for life!
Rating: Summary: Zero Stars Review: I read this book from cover to cover. When I was finished I felt sick. I felt that Ms. Vanzant wrote this book simply from stream of conciousness and did not think about what she was saying. She just simply turned this into the editor without any care about what she was saying, how she was saying it, or if it has any validity at all. The editor also forgot to read the book. I don't feel Ms. Vanzant has any theory to fall back onto other than just being a friend talking to another friend (with a price of the book). I know people who are changing their lives and ways they are in relationships because of her book and what it says. Oprah needs to really think again about having her on the show. She puts people off. I really want to like what she has to say but I can find any rhyme or reason for it. I'm really sorry that so many people have given her so many stars for this book.
Rating: Summary: This book is an eye-opener! Review: A friend recommended this book to me and I am very grateful that she did. "In the Meantime" tells it like it is and does not allow the reader any excuses for not taking control of their life and being happy. I especially liked the exercises and encouragement. A must read for everyone.
Rating: Summary: Words cannot do this book justice; it's that good. Review: Though I was assigned to read this book for my Psych 20 class at Solano Community College, it did not feel like an assignment. I felt that I was cheating the school because this book was not a burden to read. Once I started reading, it was difficult to put down. Actually, I ended up reading for six hours straight one day. It has given me insight to myself and has given me a different viewpoint on love. I encourage anyone who has ever been, who is, or who will be in love to read this book.
Rating: Summary: I love Iyanla in person, I liked the book Review: In the Meantime had a style that was hard to read. It was worth it though to get a few powerful insights. Overall, what got me through the book was my memory of how inspirational Iyanla is in person. I am anxious to read another book to see if her power is conveyed somewhere. I have a feeling that workshops and talks are the places to really get blown away by Iyanla.
Rating: Summary: Life in a few easy steps. Review: This book has changed my life, and I have offered it to many freinds and relatives. The easy reading reminded me that I have the choices to make in my life, no one else does. I'm striving to reach the third floor and stay out of the basement 100% of the time.
Rating: Summary: So Far Soooooooo Good!!!!!!! Review: I am just now getting into Chapter 2 and think that this book is the answer that I need to find out who the heck I am. I have read other books by this author and she is truly a blessing for all. I recommend anyone who is "In the Meantime" to read this book. For those of you who did not understand this book maybe you need to understand yourself first and then everything else will come naturally. Thank You Iyanla!
Rating: Summary: Ever been lied to and dumped on, this book is for you! Review: In the Meantime helped me out of a very dark hole when my ex-husband lied to me over and over again about everything from his finances to cheating. It's funny, I lowered my standards to go out with him in the first place, because he is not attractive in his appearance, but I thought, Oh don't be so superficial, he seems like a nice guy who could give me a good life, so I kept dating him and we got married. Then I found out he had lied about his entire life and even faked a personality. He was all handshakes and smiles and buying drinks in public, then he never cracked a smile at home until the next time he was seen out. He is a miserable, cruel person to live with. Jealous, moody, tempermental, suspicious, insecure both emotionally and financially, a complete phony, liar and a cheat! He was always playing the Mr. "Big Bucks" role in public, when the fact is he does'nt have two nickels to rub together. He used me as his "TROPHY", then I became his "TROPHY WIFE." In the Meantime helped me realize that these were his problems and not mine. This was his baggage to deal with, and I found the strength to turn my back on him once and for all; to rid my life of this emotional roller coaster. I was at fault for allowing myself to lower my standards in the first place and be fooled by his conn, so I share the responsibility. In the Meantime has shown me never to lower my standards again for any reason whatsoever! Know what you want and go for it, pray about it, get right with God, be patient, wait on the Lord and good things will come! I am an educated, attractive, ambitious young woman and I deserve the man that I want, instead of allowing him to choose me, I shall do the choosing! I went through every floor in this book and it took some time for me to heal, but I made it and so can you! Thank you Iyanla! Lori Cardiero
Rating: Summary: A True eye Opener Review: This is a must read for anyone who is interested in knowing themselves, and others in relationship. I recommend this book to anyone who is considering entering into a new relationship with the opposite sex, but gives great insight on any level of relationship. I had a hard time getting past the first chapter or two as I got REAL tired of the word MEANTIME, but she does get past it and feel so very thankful that I stuck with this book as it taught me ALOT about myself and how to avoid the vicious circle of disfunction. Thank You to Iyanla Vanzant for opening my eyes, I will definately pass this one on to many.
Rating: Summary: The book was fantastic! Review: I don't want to give the whole book away but I think every person who wants to be loved by themselves or anyone else should read this book! It has made me understand why I keep waiting for the right person to come along instead of settling for something less than I deserve! Thank-You Iyanla! I will read the rest of you books! Most of my friends are reading this book because I told them it will help them a lot! Males and females alike.
