Rating: Summary: A Must Read for anyone confused about relationships Review: A great book that includes spirituality as well as practical advice. It all starts and ends with YOU! It discusses how both our childhood as well as previous experiences make us who we are, including our parts that need to be healed - NOT FIXED! The readers who are truly 'in the basement' probably won't get much out of this book, but those of us on any higher level will start to 'get it'. It helps you understand that growth is a process, and progress isn't easy or visible at every turn. It shows that our vision changes as we progress and that the pain we are going through will eventually be replaced with love and hope! If you are new to recovery or spirituality, some other books may be more helpful at first, but coming back to this book is like working a puzzle - confusing at first, but with steady progress becomes easier and satisfying.
Rating: Summary: The Worst Inspirational Self-Help Book Ever Review: This book looks like my journal before without the polish and coherence a professional editor adds. The author is vague and silly throughout the book and never once offers anything more concrete than "we learn through our relationships." How many hundreds of books and talk shows have discussed this topic before? And with much greater clarity, insight, and intelligence. In the end, the book takes the reader nowhere because the author fails to present her ideas in any sort of coherent way.
Rating: Summary: Spiritual Guidance & Nourishment! Review: This book addresses issues of self-esteem, self-love, and one's relationship w/his or her higher power. I found it difficult to read at times, depending upon my own growth stages. I continue to read it over and over applying Ms. Vanzant's strategies for spiritual growth. It's a must read for anyone who is struggling w/love and has the desire to face responsibility.
Rating: Summary: You're Not Crazy!! Review: I read this book after many trials of trying to figure out what was going on in my life. I highly recommend this book for women who are looking for the motivation to make a change, but are scared too.
Rating: Summary: Life Changing! Review: This book -for me- had nothing to do with relationships with the opposite sex, but had everything to do with the one (and only, other than God) person I would have to live with for the rest of my life. Me. It helped me realize the the only TRUE love I need to find is the love for myself. Then and only then can others benefit from that. An absolutely incredible book. It's not only for people in relationships or looking for a relationship. It is for anyone who wants to live a life of love and freedom for one's self, and for others to be blessed by who you become. I can not recommend this book enough. I'm telling everyone about it. Read it, read it, read it! But most importantly let it affect you. Don't let it's message pass you by. Work through her lessons and highlight key points in the book for yourself. IT'S CHANGING MY LIFE. :)
Rating: Summary: It finally dawned on me Review: I was almost done with the book and i was enjoying it but i felt like i still didn't know how to "clean" my house so i started to get frustrated. I reread the title and I thougt "she cant guarantee the love i want" and it dawned on me that that was true! There is no guarantee someone will love me how i want so i must love me how i want! It was very moving for me! Im still struggling with the cleaning though!
Rating: Summary: We Should All Do It Review: Many times in relationships we forget to let our selves grow and tend to follow the flow of the relationship, this is usually the easiest thing to do, yet the most devistating. This book encourages you to look beyond relationships and take responsibility and control of your own happiness. By doing this it is believed that troubles can be avoided in the future. I think the bottom line is that a lot of people don't have enough self esteem, and don't expect better for theirselves. This book tells you that you do deserve better and your the one who's got to get it. Something I think we all need a lesson in.
Rating: Summary: MY MY MY ! Iyanla Vanzant has done it again Review: As always Mrs. Vanzant has done it again. "In the meantime", deals with the many relationships we encounter with family, friends, and with ourselves and the problems we face in these relations. As Iyanla explores the different levels in loves house she gives practical tools in how to leave the basement and if applied cautiously can lead you into the attic of unconditional love. Once again another one of her books makes the winners list. Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: This book should be given to anyone who wants a relationship Review: Iyanla Vanzant has put into words what many of us have said to ourselves but were afraid to say out loud. I have had friends who wouldn't pick up a book, fight over this one. I recommend this book to anyone who wants to know where a real relationship begins. It begins with this book
Rating: Summary: AN ABSOLUTE MUST READ! Review: At one of the most difficult times in my life, Iyanla did it again!!! She has managed to, so tenderly, yet profoundly, write a book about that stage in life where so many inspirational authors couldn't quite capture. This book is like a compass guiding you through a "sure-enough" valley; or should I say, vallies. It is excellent! I definitely recommend it; not only as a "must-read," but as a reference tool. KEEP IT BY YOUR PILLOW.
