Summary: Excellent
Review: This book is excellent. The kids begged me to play the CD over and over again (a great sign with kids)! I fully recommend it to the young and the young at heart!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: LOVE the Philadelphia Chickens
Review: I have no kids (unless you count my cat and my husband) but I bought this book originally for a friend's little boy's first birthday. I loved it so much I had to get my own copy. The songs are a scream and I love how some of the most serious actors in Hollywood are singing them. Come on, Meryl Streep singing "Nobody Understands Me"? What's not to love about that? I just wish all of the words to the songs were in the book, not just the first verse.

Summary: We love the CD!!! (but the book's binding is crappy)
Review: The CD is wonderful. It has become the top car request now...and we like it almost as much as our daughter, who just turned 4. The range of musical styles, and the amusing lyrics make it a true winner.

My daughter loves having the book to go with the CD, and can study the illustrations, turning the pages with each song, for an hour at a time during long car trips.

Unfortunately, despite her fairly gentle treatment of the book, the pages all started falling out during the first hour of a 4 hour road trip last weekend. Somehow we got the book away from her without a meltdown! We have owned the book for less than a month, and are very disappointed with the binding.

Buy the book and CD anyway -- you can always tape the pages back in (my next task)!

Summary: Impossibly charming!
Review: Forget the celebrity singers and the cutesy packaging. This collection is simply the perfect assemblage of catchy tunes and intriguing lyrics. Toddlers can become captivated by the songs and older ones will have fun with the twisted ideas. Become a hero, give it to your grandchildren!!!

Summary: Broadway Barnyard
Review: At five mos. my son is a little young to appreciate it, but I love it. The songs are all to adult-like tunes, but with lyrics a kid can appreciate. There's the torch song sung about cookies too high to reach, the patter song about adults who are busy busy busy and the irresistible chorus line song featuring cows. Recognizing the actors involved is a bonus, but the songs stand on their own. The book includes a simple lyric section for younger kids, and then a section with the music and complete lyrics. I heard about it by word of mouth, and it's spreading among my theater friends with and without kids...

Summary: A Bargain for a Fun Book & CD!
Review: We love Philadelphia Chickens so much that we have two copies, one for the house and one for the minivan. My boys (ages 4 & 22 months) love to sing along with the songs. They even recall the animals featured with each song. I have even made up a dance routine for the chorus-line song "Cows". My 4 year old loves the affectionate song "Snuggle Puppy", while my 22 month old loves the rush around operatic song "Busy". The variety of music featured is a wonderful exposure to kids.

Summary: Completely Enjoyable
Review: What a great twist on children's music! You'll want to join in with your toddlers and preschoolers as they explore dancing to chicken swing and cow R&B. Great fun and all the lyrics are printed out in the book. So if you need a break from dancing you can just sit down and sing a long.

Summary: My 18 month old asks for this CD!
Review: My girls (6, 4 and 18 mos) LOVE this CD! So do I! I'd give it 6 stars if I could. The girls quickly learned all the songs and sing and dance every time we play it - which is almost every day. My 18 month old will beg for it, calling it "Cows", after the first song. She even goes to sleep each night with it on! Frankly, we never look at the book - this is purely a listening pleasure in our house for both kids and grown-ups.

Summary: What a Special Experience
Review: Bought this CD/Book for our 2-1/2 year old grandson. He loves it, his mom loves it, I love it and all my friends love it. Have ordered a copy for a friend and now ordering for another.

What an idea, to have fun, young lyrics to adult music types i.e. jazz, blues, big band, operetta, etc. instead of the same old, same old nursery rhymes.

Thanks to Sandra Boynton and crew.

Summary: Creative and fun for old and young
Review: This is a superb CD, with terrific music and clever lyrics. The book that accompanies the CD is fun in and of itself, and our 2-year-old grandson likes to "read" the book even when the music isn't playing. When he stays overnight at our house, the first thing he says in the morning is, "Chickens music, please!"
