Rating: Summary: This brought HTML to me, a complete novice. Review: It does what it says it does on the front cover. Teaches yourself hypertext MArkup Language the quick and easy way! Useful pictures to convey what lots of text might loose. Useful hex color guide. Highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: The perfect HTML tutor Review: As a novice HTML'er, I had low expectations about writing HTML code. I quickly found limitations using Front Page type editors. I purchased this book after reading the online reviews and found it to be the perfect HTML tutor.Showing the code, how it fits into the page and the final result on the display makes this the easy way to learn. You know EXACTLY what to expect as you follow along in the book. When I read through the reviews I notice, with very few exceptions, that all are 4 or 5 stars. When I do find a review that pans this book I have to wonder about the commentator. Either they wrote the review for the wrong book or they should pack up their computer and take it back to the store. Castro makes HTML so simple. I can't wait to start another book from Elizabeth Castro.
Rating: Summary: Great Book. Review: This book got my web site up and going!! Once you learn HTML it's so much faster than using any typ of page bulder!!
Rating: Summary: Visual Quickstart Guides Rock! Review: I just wish the companion websites were up to par! If Elizabeth Castro applied a fraction of what is in her book, we'd really have something useful. Alas, she's busy counting royalties somewhere in Spain--she's posted to the web site ONE time in the last THREE months. Still waiting for the "Extras" that she promised would appear on the site. By the way, her other book (Perl and CGI for the WWW) is not in the same class as this one. It's O.K. but will disappoint if you expect the same level of excellence as the HTML book. The companion web site for that book as been "abandoned" as well.
Rating: Summary: The BEST Review: I have to say this book is the best HTML book out there. It shows you the code plus a picture of what it does, that's what make the Visual Quickstatr Guides so awsome.Next i plan on buying Perl and CGI for the world wide web.
Rating: Summary: An excellent and concise reference for all HTML writers Review: My copy of this book is becoming dog-eared now. Although I have started using a WYSIWYG editor, Dreamweaver 2, after moving on from an HTML editor, Luckman's Webedit, I still find it is often easier to edit the raw code. This book has been a tremendous help and its sensible format makes it very convenient to find the relevent section when it is needed. I would like to thank Elizabeth Castro for knowing exactly how to pitch the style of the book for the best effect.
Rating: Summary: Great book for beginners and good reference for the pros Review: This book provides excellent information for new folks who are just now starting to create web pages. I use it frequently as a QUICK reference and it provides a good overview of important aspects of HTML. Would like to have seen some additional DESIGN comments but still think the book is excellent.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic! Easiest book to learn HTML from Review: This book can turn a complete novice into a person who can write great web pages in a day. It is very easy to follow and gives you visual examples every step of the way.
Rating: Summary: A great tutorial for html 3.2! Review: I used this book to apply many excellent tricks to my web page. I looked at a few other books and their authors were nerds who did not know how to communicate very well. And they didn't even show how their examples worked. This book on the other hand showed me how the examples and lines of codes worked! This is a great book for any HTML authors like myself.
Rating: Summary: MUST BUY!!! Review: I was completely amazed by this book. I only started reading it yesterday with my knowledge of HTML being absolutely nil and can honestly say I have learned a lot. It is very easy to follow and has a web site to accompany it. If you don't know an ounce of HTML, this book is definitely for you. I'm also sure it would make a superb reference manual for those who have working knowledge of HTML. Great job!
