Summary: Productivity in no time
Review: This book offers tons of information without having to fight through unexplained "techno-babble". HTML is easy to learn and Castro makes sure that she imparts her knowledge; she's not interested in confusing the reader as SOOOO many technical authors do. Its size makes it easy to carry around and the price makes it a winner. All technical books should be written in this manner. You may also want to check out Castro's book "Perl and CGI for the World Wide Web". Another five start book.

Summary: Perfect! Especially for the previously unaware!
Review: This is a great book... I knew nothing about HTML, and with just the guidance of this book, I now run four separate web pages for various organizations. I even needed to email the author with a question, and she happily gave me a hand within the day!

Summary: A very very good book
Review: An example with listing of a CGI script w.r.t. her server will be very helpful.

Summary: Good starting point for learning HTML
Review: This book gets right to the point. It shows you the source code, the layout, and even offers some helpful tips. This book is a great value. My only complaint is that the author could have went into a little more detail as to what some of the codes meant (instead, she would just say,"type this...")

Other than that, I would recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn HTML, anyone relearning HTML (like me), or maybe even people who feel they're not necessarily a novice anymore. This book is just an all around great desktop reference for web publishing.

Summary: Great! (but error on p.176)
Review: I liked this book so well I assigned it to my intro to web design class. These Visual Quickstart Guides are really great to learn from. FYI: p. 176, the </FRAMESET> tag goes AFTER the </NOFRAMES> tag. Peachpit is a great press, but they need more tech editors! Code errors shouldn't sneak through in a book teaching code.

Summary: Haven't read it yet, but from the 2nd edition, it's great.
Review: I read the 2nd edition "HTML 3.2" - and if the 3rd edition on HTML 4 is anywhere near as good (which from glancing at it, it is) - I would highly recommend it to anyone. The second edition is my HTML bible. It practically taught me everything that I didn't teach myself (which was alot). Whenever I need to reference any HTML material, I turn to my book. When one of my friends wants to learn HTML, I tell them to borrow this book (or go buy it). Plain and simple: Visual Quickstart Guide has got what it takes to make the best HTML teaching book around. Forget spending $40 on a huge book. This is where it's at.

Summary: Hands down...the best HTML book available!!!!
Review: Elizabeth Castro makes HTML easy and fun. I've have all four editions of this book and it's my primary HTML reference. No matter if your a beginner or an experienced HTML programmer, you should not be without this book.

Summary: Go for it!
Review: I've read several books on HTML, and this one was worth its weight in diamonds!!! It teaches you hybrid HTML and is good for those of us who need a refresher course, and would like to not depend so much on WYSIWYG web editors. (my next book should be an english grammar one)

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Best and most sensibly structured book on HTML basic yet
Review: One word, brilliant. FOrget Dummies and all the other dross, the author has really, and I mean really, done her spadework here. No missing tables or illustrations and straight to the point, factual guidance with on-line screenshots and code. You even get a website to complement it. Buy, Buy, BUY!

Summary: The best HTML book available.
Review: This book is amazing ... I've been using it since the first edition and it's taken me from complete novice to professional Web designer. It's still my primary HTML reference, easily beating books that cost several times as much. Buy it now!
