Summary: Who Knew!!!! Very Well Done...
Review: Looking at the cover this book took me as run of the Mill.

OH MY! Was I wrong. I loved this book. There is not a thing that I would change about it.

It ws so unpredictable. I had no idea who done it. I read it in one sitting because there was no way that I was going to walk away without a inkling of a thought of who the culpret was. For the first time I was in the dark until it was revealed.

I need more stars for this one. Books like this makes a person realize why they read.

This is one of my #1 suggestions for anyone looking for a great book. I hope Gloria Mallette creates another masterpiece soon..... (HINT, HINT)

Summary: An unpleasant consequence for adultery.
Review: Marissa Jenkins is an unmarried, attractive individual with a successful career. She has plenty of male friends, unfortunately, they are all married. Marissa claims the life of a married man is easier to handle than the dating "singles scene" and she continues in her illicit affairs despite the often crass but well meaning criticisms of her friends. Then one day Marissa receives a phone call from an unidentified wife, a threat to "leave her man alone ... or else." At first she does not think much of it, but the phone calls, and later notes, and even later attacks, soon have her in fear for her life. She is fortunate to have just a couple of good friends on her side, and when Marissa's life seriously becomes endangered, it is these friends, the ones who do not judge her, that help her through her crisis. I found this book not just about adultery, which in itself is awful, but about the power of friendship. The author states so clearly and so poignantly how there are just some friends who truly do love you, no matter if what you do seems wrong to them. Though it was a good book, it wasn't deep enough. The fear Marissa felt, the condemnation of her friends, the questioning of her own lifestyle, were not delved into deep enough. It's a short read, but had it been longer, we may have come to love Marissa, instead of feeling that she just may have gotten what she deserved. There is no character development, just shadowy introductions that never end up to much. A good read I guess for a long summer day, but not a must-read by any stretch of the imagination.

Summary: Mistresses Think Twice!
Review: Marissa Jenkins is a beautiful, successful woman who can have any man she wants--and she chooses married men. Right now, she's juggling four. Her friends worry and criticize her lifestyle, but Marissa loves the money and gifts her lovers supply and sees no reason to give them up. But one of her lover's wives finds out about Marissa. And the woman begins harassing her. First with phone calls, then threatening notes, then destroying the car that could have been her husband's gift. As Marissa fears for her life, she starts investigating the four wives to find out who is stalking her. And as Marissa discovers who these women are, she sees them as people, and sees herself in a new, darker light.

At first, Marissa is not a likeable character. She's smug, she's selfish, she puts on airs, and believes women are jealous of her because she can easily get their men. When the harassment first starts, it's hard to find any sympathy for her. But Gloria Mallette slowly shows us who Marissa is, and while you won't condone her actions, you'll understand why she went down that road. Shades of Jade will make any woman who's having an affair think, and maybe even question her own choices.

Summary: A Fast Paced Suspenseful Read
Review: Thirty-something Marissa Jenkins is a single sistah who has looks, a good job, and a decent apartment. Unlike a lot of single sistahs, she is not looking for a man. In fact, she has too many to handle. Marissa is dating four men at the same time. And she definitely is not interested in walking down the altar with any of them. She couldn't if she wanted to, because of all of Marissa's men are married.

When Marissa meets handsome bachelor Levi at her best friend's house, she is turned off by him. He doesn't know how to dress and he is a blue collar worker. In fact, she is down right rude to him.

Marissa continues to juggle her married men until she starts receiving harassing calls from a woman telling her stay away from her man. Marissa honestly has no idea who is calling her. With four men, it's just too hard to know whose wife may be calling her.

Marissa tries to ignore the calls but later her car is defaced and she is sent a death threat. However, she is afraid to go to the police, because she is too embarrassed to tell the police about her lifestyle.

Fate pairs Marissa with Levi in her quest to find the stalker. Marissa must face the demons from her past in order to that she can resolve her issues with the present.

SHADES OF JADE is a fast paced suspenseful read that will keep you turning the pages.

Summary: I could have never guessed....
Review: Initially, I had a hard time getting into this book...mainly, because I had "issues" with the title character, Marrissa, and her nasty, self-absorbed attitude. Also, as much time as I thought I had spent reading, I was surprised that I had only covered a small amount of pages - it just seemed to drag. However, since my bookclub had chosen this book as this month's selection, I felt that I should try to read the whole thing. I plowed away, and luckily, about half way through the book, the action did pick up, and I just wanted to continue reading to see what would happen next.

NEVER WOULD I HAVE GUESSED the outcome! All women that are "in relationships" with a married man should read this book, and realize that it's not all it's cracked up to be - and you could be seriously hurt (if not killed) because of it. There are truly some crazy people in this world! This was pretty scary, but overall, was not a bad read. Would I recommend it? Perhaps....depends on the type of writing style that the particular reader prefers/looks for.

Summary: Cheating ways
Review: Marissa learns the hard way that dating married men is not the right thing to do. Marissa starts getting angry calls from one of the men's wife she is dating warning her to stay away. I was somewhat shocked when i read who the caller was. I throught the ending was pretty good but a good read.
