Rating: Summary: A mess Review: I thought the main character in SOJ was very unlikable. The book was predictable and I think the characters could have been a little more developed. I don't see how anyone could think this book was the bomb. If you want a good suspense novel, I suggest trying "What A Woman's Gotta Do" by Evelyn Coleman.
Rating: Summary: awesome Review: GLORIA, I LOVED YOUR BOOK. I WAS JUST IN THE LIBRARY ONE DAY, AND DECIDED TO PICK UP YOUR BOOK. I WOULD HAVE NEVER GUESSED THE ENDING.THE BOOK WAS EXCELLENT. EXCELLENT BOOK. YOU SHOULD MAKE A SEQUEL. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: A real page turner! Review: I had heard the buzz on this book. I read it out of curiosity mostly not expecting much, but I was hooked right away. Though the heroine (Marissa) is a very flawed person, Ms. Mallette managed to make me care about her as the story progressed. I would have liked a bit more romance depicted between Levi and Marissa, but all and all I will recommend this book to all my book-loving friends. The mystery is delicious with a twist that packs a wallop. Good job, Ms. Mallette!
Rating: Summary: Suspense Thriller Review: The suspense in this book makes it unable to put down. I would like to see Shades of Jade turned into a motion picture or a made for tv movie. A guaranteed blockbuster!
Rating: Summary: GOOD STORYLINE, GREAT ENDING Review: In SHADES OF JADE, Gloria Mallette shows the realistic possibilities of what can happen when a single woman dates married men exclusively. Marissa is a happy, single woman living in New York and thriving on the life of dating generous, upscale, older married men. She gives them company and sex. They give her money and gifts. This arrangement seems to be working for everyone and Marissa doesn't see how anyone is getting hurt. Her thinking is that her business is her own and if a wife satisfied her husband, he wouldn't be out there. So what's the problem? Well, someone has begun to seriously threaten Marissa's life if she doesn't "leave my man alone." Moreover, this psycho wife or girlfriend appears to be capable and willing to carry out the threats. Not knowing who the perpetrator is makes SHADES OF JADE exciting and suspenseful. Although the storyline is very good and well thought out, the character development is lacking. The reader couldn't figure out how any one of the characters looked or how he or she came to their personal conclusions about relationships. Friendships also play a major role in this book, showing that the ability to accept people, even when you disagree, is very important to survival. The ending is unexpected and well worth the book.
Rating: Summary: Who done it? Review: This was a great book. By chapter 2 I knew who it was and got very frustrated with the book, but I had to complete it to see if I picked the correct person. By chapter 5 I realized I did not know who it was so I picked someone else. By chapter 10 I realized it was wrong again so I gave up and waited until the end of the book and was truly shocked. This book keep on on my toes I never knew who did it until the very end of the book. I recommend this book and also her first book (Practice to Deceive) was very good.
Rating: Summary: EMOTIONAL SINS COME IN MANY SHADES OF JADE Review: Marissa has success, a booming body and the looks to match. Why does she only date married men? Brandon asked Marissa to look within and find out why she is cheating herself out of a real relationship with a man who will put her first? A question only a best friend could ask. Shades of Jade, opens with drama.Marissa's phone rings five times, on the sixth ring she answers it and a woman's voice calls her a "slut." The harassment begins, and Marissa has no idea, which of the three wives it could be. Marissa's car is vandalized, she begins receiving threatening notes. The breaking point is when she's followed to where she thought she would be safe. Outside at the trash compactor she hears the heels of shoes, the noise is getting closer. She makes it to the door double bolting the locks. Marissa felt it would be useless to contact the police. She had no information to give them to help her. Somebody wants her dead, and she has to find out who, before it is too late. Shades of Jade is a page-turner and filled with suspense. If you like suspense and drama, Shades of Jade should be your choice. Missy, RAW Reviewer
Rating: Summary: Pretty Good Review: I really enjoyed this book. I do not usually read mysteries but this one was pretty good. Mrs. Mallette keeps you guessing and more than makes her point about Marrisa'a behavior.
Rating: Summary: Nicely Done Review: The heroine Marissa is not a nice girl. She's selfish, snobbish and is a consumate user and yet.....the author does such a fine job of telling this story and showing the reader that there is more to this character than what first meets the eye that you will find yourself rooting for her. Taking an unlikeable character and making her into heroine is extremely hard to do. I can think of only two books that really pulled it off, GWTW and Forever Amber. The mytery was well thought out. I couldn't figure out who the villain was until the shocking end. Shades of Jade was very nicely done. Kimberley Wilson, author of 11 Things Mama Should Have Told You About Men.
Rating: Summary: Wow! Review: I literally could not put this book down! This is a definately a page turner. I knew this book was going to be good when there was already a conflict going on during the first 17 pages! Marissa is like alot of women who date married men out there. She thinks that she is using them when they are actually using her. Dating a married man comes with a price and Marissa found that out. But, did she find that out before it was too late? Read the book to find out!
