Summary: Suspensfully entertaining !!
Review: I love suspense and mystery and this book fulfilled my every expectation. This is my first by the author. The story grabs your attention and refuses to let go. What came to mind with a lot of the characters is the old adage "you can't judge a book by it's cover". It's definitely a good read. I will definitely seek out more of Ms. Mallette's work.

Summary: Shades of excellence
Review: I'm not sure how the title fit into the story, but the story has many shades of excellence. Easy read.

Summary: Intriguing,yet enjoyable novel
Review: I just finished reading this novel last night, and I must say that it wasn't what I thought it would be. I expected a book where this person just beds all these men, and pays for her trouble. Well, sort of. I found it intriguing because first of all, one was looking for a scorned wife to be the stalker in this book, but I felt all along that it wasn't. (I'll stop so as not to give it away)Nevertheless, for a debut novel, I enjoyed the plot, I really didn't have much sympathy for Jade because hey, we all have been hurt in one way or another, but we don't all go to married people for companionship. In this case, she truly made her bed. And Charmaine, despite the [stuff] she had to put up with, had the patience of a saint. Although I would have been more truthful in telling Jade why Levi came to dinner in the first place instead of springing it on her and getting a lot of unneccessary fallout. For a debut novel, it is good. I look forward to Ms. Mallette's work in the future.

Summary: A true Thriller
Review: When I first picked up Shades of Jade I was drawn in by the cover blurb, "You will not be able to put this book down" (or something like this). I wasn't sure who the stalker was and I was anxious to get to the end of the story. However I had an overwhelming desire to skip past the Marissa/Levi predictable love story. I also couldn't understand why Marissa's friend, Charmaine kept being her friend even after how nasty Marissa treated her. I don't see why this book has so much hype. It is a thriller but the characters were not really developed or real.

Summary: Shades of Jade
Review: I was surprised at the glowing views offered for this book. Although it held my interest and I did not guess the identify of the culprit, it could hardly be considered a good mystery. The writer is high on teaching and low on plot and detail. The main character is not likeable. Even when she sees the error of her ways; you are not swayed to her support. The author's efforts to teach a lesson about the perils of dating married men are heavy, but plot and character development are light. Much of what occurs is predictable. The only surprise in the book was the culprit and even that lacked creditability. It is obvious that the alleged mystery in this book was the vehicle to teach a morality lesson. I would read the works of this writer again. I would only hope for less of a morality twist and more suspense twists.

Summary: Excellent Read!
Review: This was a page-turner from beginning to end. It focuses on Marissa who only dates married men and the threatening phone calls that she beings to receive from one of the wives. I thought I had figured out who the stalker was, but I was thrown by the suprise ending. This is one book that you will not be able to put down.

Summary: A true pageturner!
Review: I'm not usually a fan of mystery/suspense novels, but when I read the back cover of this book I thought I'd give it a try. I'm so glad that I did! "Shades of Jade" is a well-written, suspenseful story. Marissa is a thirty-something, successful single woman who prides herself on selectively dating only professional, moneyed, married men. Although her best friend tries to get Marissa to see the error of her ways, the real wake call begins when Marissa starts to receive threatening phone calls, letters and...well, you'll have to read it to find out....

If you're a fan of light mystery, you'll more than likely enjoy this book. And even if you aren't, give it a try anyway. I think you'll find Gloria Malette a talented storyteller.

Summary: Gripping, Spectacular and Well Worth the Time!
Review: A sister writing a gripping who done it? Of Course! Shades of Jade is written in a spectacular web of hidden truths and downright deceit. The book keeps you guessing even when you find out who did it and that's a first for me. I was kicking myself because I didn't see it. The reader will NEVER guess, and it comes as a total surprise. Gloria Malette has honed her craft and presents it to the world in a way that will have everyone asking, "all right, so when's the next one?"

I recommend this book to all people who love a good suspense novel that will entertain them from beginning to end.
