Summary: He is a traitor to us conservatives
Review: At first glance, Michael Alan Weiner seems like an improbable candidate to be America's angriest, most vicious conservative radio host. Born 60 years ago in the Bronx, Weiner has lived in Northern California for most of his adult life, making a living as an herbalist and nutritionist. He communed with Fijian traditional healers, got married in a rain forest and studied ethno-medicine at the University of California at Berkeley. He swam naked with Allen Ginsberg, dreamed of being the next Lenny Bruce and wrote a rambling novel about a half-mad alter ego. His son's middle name is Goldencloud. For years, he made a name cranking out a pile of books on alternative medicine, recommending bizarre remedies such as using vitamin C to stop AIDS and kicking cocaine with coffee enemas.

These days, Weiner's more interested in purging the body politic. Using the pseudonym Michael Savage, he's launched a one-man mission to save America from its enemies at home and abroad, which on any given day includes liberals, gays, academics, the homeless, the Clintons, immigrants, feminists, CNN, the American Civil Liberties Union, Muslims and other minorities. Broadcasting three hours a day, five afternoons a week, from a rented studio in downtown San Francisco, he gives voice to the right wing's darkest fantasies. He muses about launching preemptive nuclear strikes on the Middle East ("I wish to God the hatches were open and the missiles were flying!"), suggests gunning down illegal immigrants ("If we had a government, we'd blow them out of the desert with airplanes!"), dreams of dispatching with "commies, pinkos and perverts" and other undesirables ("I say round them up and hang 'em high!") and even paraphrases a remark attributed to Nazi leader Hermann Goering ("When I hear someone's in the civil rights business, I oil up my AR-15!")

Michael Weiner's long and circuitous road has taken him from being a scientist and entrepreneur, through stints as a hipster, novelist and aspiring comedian, to becoming the personification of straight white male rage. But just as his gap-toothed grin has been replaced by a row of airbrushed pearly whites on the front cover of his new book, he gives his audience a whitewashed version of his past. The real story is far more interesting, not just for its ironies and contradictions, but for the often disturbing clues it provides about the man now so well known as Michael Savage. He's gone through at least one political makeover. He's turned on old friends, or they've turned on him. If his semi-autobiographical novel is any guide to his own life, he's keeping a few skeletons in his closet.

In the end, the picture that emerges from his books, from interviews with past and current associates, and from his radio show is that "The Savage Nation" is just the latest undertaking of a man who's spent his life trying to get the world to notice him.

Summary: There are two kinds of people in this world...
Review: ...the kind that thinks there are two kinds of people in this world and the kind that are smart enough to see otherwise.

Liberals vs. Conservatives. Right vs. Left.

Give me a break. We're all Human Beings. We all strive (most, at least) to be good people and live good lives. We (most) try to respect each other and defend what we hold to be sacred.

We are human beings.

This two-party system, in my opinion, is ridiculous. Human beings are more complicated than black or white. Give it up, people.

I'm not "Right" and I'm not "Left." Get this: I'm "Me." I agree that people should have the right to own guns to protect themselves from crime and big government-- I also believe that the government shouldn't have a say in what a female does with her body. That morals should not be pressed on us by our government, but that we should make our own choices, FREE from government. So where should I pigeon-hole myself? An angry "liberal" or an angry "conservative."

I've met good people on both sides of the spectrum. There are a MINORITY of radicals representing both "The Right" and "The Left" but these extremists are not indicative of The Majority.

I don't think there's anything to be afraid of. I'm typing this at work right now... after work I will safely walk to my car, safely drive home, eat a good meal, and fall asleep feeling safe.

Oh yeah... this is supposed to be a book review, not some social commentary from some stranger on the internet.

Savage represents the radical "Right" minority brainwashed by this "Me Against You, Right vs. Left, Black vs. White" attitude. There are plenty more than two kinds of people in this world, Mr. Savage.

Oh yeah, and a bibliography lends credability to your work. You might get more respect if your claims are researched and accurate.

To "The Left," and "The Right": keep doing the best you can do. Cheers, and have a good day.

Summary: Hmmm...
Review: I must confess to actually looking for this book when I went into the Barnes and Nobles... or was I looking for "Skipping Toward Gommorah" by Dan Savage? Anyway..., the two books were close to each other by the happy accident of both authors having eerily similar last names.
I had heard of this book, and I was quite curious to have a look at it (one thing I've learned in life is to hardly ever trust what secondary sources say about a book, read it yourself). So, I picked it up and read some chapters, skimmed through others.

Perhaps the word that came to mind when I was reading this was, "distinctive." I could use words like, "spewed hatred," and "completely uninformed," or "vile," but I won't. Because I feel like those words have been used countless times before and are largely devoid of any meaning now.

I'm (perhaps obviously by this point) no conservative, but I am none-too-fond of the New Left either. Both sides have become shrill voiced finger pointers, each blaming the other for everything that's wrong with the United States, the world, etc. This is good in one respect, in that we're not blaming Jews anymore. However, the danger of this book is that conservatives will read it, accept it as truth without truly questioning any of the points it makes. The danger of Micheal Moore is that liberals read it without truly questioning any of the points he makes.

And here's a tiny nugget of truth for conservatives: I know you guys are often accused of accepting whatever "fact" is given you by so-called conservative leaders (Coulter, Hannity, Limbaugh, etc.). But here's a little piece of information: liberals, for all their vaunted critical thinking skills, also blindly accept whatever so-called liberal leaders (Moore, Franken, Sarandon) tell them without really thinking about anything at all.
Everything has become factoids, slogans, and namecalling. The level of dialogue has sunk to abyssmal depths in this country, and both sides are completely to blame. I can only shudder to think about what this means for the political future of America.
Not to sound like the greatest person alive, but I read this book to see what someone who disagrees with me thinks. My pulse rate didn't go up because I was holding a book with ideas anathema to my own... I didn't scream and rant about it later. But I was hoping for something with a bit more substance. Just like when I read "Stupid White Men" and wanted more substance.

I would encourage people to read this, just like I would encourage them to read anything. But I would encourage them to read it actively, just like they should read everything else. Question it, analyze it... you might end up disagreeing (or even agreeing) with the author, more than you would by just passively reading this. While looking at this book, I was reminded of a quote (from Hamlet, I believe) that also came to mind when I read Moore, "There is more in heaven and earth than is dreamt of in your philosophy."

Summary: Liberalism....A Mental Illness
Review: Indigo from Tennessee----and any other liberal, for that matter....The fact that you have not only waved your ignorance and stupidity for all the world to see, by, first, doing as liberals do---talking about things you know nothing about----This wonderful book of the truth that your pea brain cannot handle, due to incompetence, was on the bestseller lists for weeks. Borders is suffering due to your inexperience in logic, and lack of literary knowledge. But THAT IS the mark of a liberal, after all. Mr. Savage said it best when he said that liberalism is not a political preference....it's a mental illness. Please. Get a life. Get another job. Get off the backs of statesmen like Mr. Savage. He exposes despots like you----the fact that you mock him is a clear indicator to me that you do not understand America, or have the capability to do so. Liberals need to return to their communist homelands. You're not welcome here. You're not fit.

Summary: Savage Logic
Review: Most of this book is allegations without evidence and rude name calling. But there were a few occasions when Mr. Savage decided to try his logic on us. Here is a classic example from page twenty:

-Peta represents all left-wing liberals
-Peta does not concern themselves with human rights issues in foreign nations
-Therefore left wing liberals do not care about human rights issues anywhere

Mr. Savage forgot to mention that PETA has a very different agenda than Amnesty International. And equating one organization to encompass an entire political spectrum is ludicrous.

Some of is statements (that are not backed) up are as follows:

-The ACLU is a communist/nazi organization
-The NAACP holds back America
-Pagans are antifamily and brought Hitler to power
-Liberals glorify pedophiles, drug users, criminals (nonspecific), homosexuals, etc.
-Pornography causes the rape of women and disrespect for who they are.

Personally anyone that can not differentiate between communism and fascism is a moron in my book.

I have pagan friends, who have families. It is amazing how an earth baseed religion can be so against-life. How odd.
Liberals must really be awful if what he says is true. Of course, he never backs his statements with long term truth.

I doubt pornography causes rape. He can not prove this, it is just a statement. A picture is not going to cause disrespect for women, but the Bible putting women in "their place" does. Only a strong male can run a family? Okay, what about single women? Oh, they must be Liberal and hate America. Otherwise they would get married. Sorry, I forgot.

He states that he loves America, and liberals hate it. But then he goes on to call the Amercian people the American Sheeple. Obviously he loves us, but doesn't respect us. Either that or he is referring to his supporters, who are great candidates for sheep.

Mr. Savage is a moron, buy his book if you are ignorant and do not like intellectual debate. Read it if you want a good laugh - but if you read more than two chapters - bring a barf bag.

Summary: Bargain book
Review: I work at Borders Books, Music, Cafe... Store #199, Knoxville, Tennessee.

This book was recently turned into a bargain book.
When a book isn't selling, and there are more copies then anyone will ever buy, it's put out frount on a table with the other badly written books people refuse to buy for more then a few dollars.

This was one of them, so, for a laugh (and seeing although I get my staff discount of 33% on top of the fantastic price of $5.99) I brought it.

I have to say, it's one of the most amusing books I own, and really does make for a good coaster and conversation/ comical object when I have company.

I have read about half of it, and plan to finish it when fall symester ends, but so far I am plesantly bemused by it. It dosn't really make me feel any sort of anger or hatred when I read it, because it is just way too amusing.

Let me tell you this: I am an immigrant (I'm over from England) I am female, and am slightly feminist. I like the idea of communism if done properly, I'm all about the environment, animal rights, gay rights, religious freedom, etc.
Yes, I'm a liberal (better a bleeding heart then none though, ne?)
Basicly, I'm everything this man so obviously fears, I'm everything he's angry about... So I know that when I read about these "red diaper doper babies" I'm supposed to be reading about myself. But I don't see myself there, nor do I see any of my like-minded friends. All I see is a frightened, angry, hate-filled man who has a lot of misconceptions and is capible of nothing more then name-calling and appealing to a class of very confused and paranoid individuals... it's really quite sad.

Peace

Review: A must read book. Savage tells it like it is. You will learn the truth about a lot of things, and see how the liberals are really messing up this country. I recommend this book to all.

Summary: Suprisingly Rational Work
Review: I've rarely heard Michael's radio show and when I have I've found him to be too angry. I was suprised that his book was NOT an endless attack on the left. I learned a lot about the author and have new respect for Michael Savage.

I would recommend Savage's book, and COCKPIT CONFESSIONS OF AN AIRLINE PILOT, by Keshner, which is fun and brilliant, to boot!

Summary: Savage tells the truth!
Review: A must read book for anyone that are fed up with left wing "Religion" and humanist scum, doing everything they can to bring down this proud Country. I AM NOT EVEN AMERICAN - I AM DANISH, STUDYING HERE. I can relate to everything in Mr. Savage's book as I see the very same tendencies in my own little country. But there is definitely an awakeing going on in Denmark amongst the true people, who love their country like the Americans and who will not allow long haired hippies from the sixties - now in power, dressed up in nice blue suits - to take over their country and set the political agenda. Like Savage, many Danes want to reclaim their Country and get it back on the right track far away from the disgusting utopia of left wing psycos. GOD BLESS AMERICA and may He help to rid this country from these ultratolerant people who is turning America into a completely immoral society like Sodoma and Gomorra (Danish spelling I am afraid) in the Bible. Humanism is of the devil, it has replaced the true God in which the Americans once put their trust and hopes and with who's help they built this country!

Summary: Ignore the Thought Police Reviews
Review: Having read the book (which is more than I can say for most of the liberal posters here) I find it to be another excellent example of the opposing view from those who are sick and tired of political correctness being shoved down their throats.

Many people posting here (thought police) are simply trying to keep you from reading the book and hearing another viewpoint other than that of the dominant media (95% which are Democrats). This is exactly the kind of reaction that Michael Savage would predict. Liberals never want you to hear both sides and then make up your mind, they will do your thinking for you and then tell you how to act.

Tolerance (one of their favorite words) is reserved only for those that liberals feel deserve it. Conservatives, Christians, military people and your average hard-working white male are never to be tolerated but instead called names and made fun of as you see here in some of these postings.

If you are tired of all this (as many Americans are) then be sure to read Savage's book. Savage gives you the unvarnished truth about what is going on in this country. Once you have read the book, you can decide who is "polarizing" America, the dominant media and universities or tiny talk radio.

Make up your own mind, don't give it to someone else.
