Summary: Ad Hominem attacks tailored to look like cogent arguments.
Review: Once I attended a lecture that pertained to whether or not Islam and Islamic culture were threats to western civilization. The gist of the speaker's message was that Islam is a religion that is of no threat to western society, and in fact much of Islamic theology was in complete harmony with traditional western values. Since he was speaking to an audience that was predominately Muslims and in their twenties, and since he articulated his message with, shall we say, "street flavor" mannerisms and vocal inflections one is accustomed to seeing in gangster rap videos, it appealed to an audience who were already inclined to this message.Whether or not Islamic theology is amicable to western thought is one issue. Whether the speaker presented cogent arguments is quite another. In fact I would venture to say that this speaker's logic was specious to even the most imbecilic among us. That doesn't make his position wrong necessarily, but it makes his rationale for that position invalid. Yet why weren't these keen college students finding his argumentation objectionable? Simple, he was preaching to the choir, in a manner the choir liked to be preached to (hence the urban colored verbiage and body language). The lesson: Good delivery is everything. Excellent delivery can make feces look like filet mignon, especially when the audience is predisposed to believing it anyway. Dr. Michael Savage in his book "The Savage Nation" is all too aware of this, and seeks to perform a verbal slight of hand to his adoring audience to assure them that the world is divided into two sides, one the virtuous and stain free conservative, and the other, the liberal, the spawn of Satan who is annihilating western civilization because of his psychopathic quest for extreme political correctness and the destruction of moral restraint. Vilification is the name of the game and Dr. Savage plays it as aptly as any demagogue, whether you are comparing him to Joseph Goebbels or Joseph McCarthy. As is the case with the Muslim orator in the above scenario, if you are not enticed with his deft use of language, and if you don't already have an affinity for what he is stating, you can clearly see just how patently absurd his opinion is. Case in point, Dr. Savage, in his book "The Savage Nation" seeks to delineate the difference between a liberal and conservative by showing how each would react, if hypothetically, their houses got broken into. Since I read "The Savage Nation" sometime ago, and do not have it in front of me, some of the details of this scenario might be sketchy. But basically, according to Savage, the first individual would immediately defend his family and property by shooting the intruder. The second, would wonder what he or his family did to offend or incite the intruder to break into the home. The second individual would seek to extend a hand in friendship and understanding to the intruder all the while allowing the intruder to kill his children, rape his wife, loot and plunder his house. The first individual, the one, who did the moral thing, is the Godly conservative. The second individual is a metaphor for the depraved and irrational liberal who is too busy placating the enemies of this country while they burn it to the ground. It never occurs to Dr. Savage, that within this simpleton's scenario, that a third kind of individual is possible. Not one who is purely reactionary and sees everything on the outside as antagonistic like the first, or one who is pathetically meek and willing to sacrifice much on the altar of political correctness like the second, but a third kind of individual who is able to defend his most cherished assets, while also acknowledging his own complicity in the scenario as well. Of course to acknowledge this third sort of man, the type of creature that most mainstream liberals are, would completely blow Dr. Savage's case. Remember, the trick to being a good propagandist is to APPEAR even handed in your social commentary, while all the while exercising your biases. Is this the sort of tripe that Savage tries to pass off as legitimate polemic? It is demonstrably false, and this should be clear to everyone, except for his sheepish followers who are too immersed in their own acrimony at the supposed liberal media complex of this country to listen to their own common sense. Savage is intent on portraying liberals as this monolithic group who advocates an almost evangelistic proclamation of homosexuality, the feminization of men, the destruction of our language and culture, the obliteration of Christianity from the American landscape, the wholesale slaughter of innocent millions in abortion clinics, transforming our economy into socialistic one, the erosion of our military power, and finally, putting environmental preservation above human welfare. Granted some of the more aberrant among us, who happen to camp in the liberal arena, may subscribe to this sort of radicalism, but most of us are moderate and rational, and therefore hardly support any of aforementioned concepts. Liberals are a diverse group. Some of us support things like the pro-choice stance, while others, such as myself, think that abortion is a sugar coated term for infanticide, and that it is a practice that should be outlawed entirely. All of us, contrary to Savage's delusions, want to encourage the preservation of our language, borders, and culture. However, unlike Savage and his kind, we don't believe that this country is so feeble, that a little diversity will some how vanquish what is distinctively American. In fact, the need for Savage and his ilk to spew such caustic rhetoric like this, which only polarizes this country, is telling of how little faith he and his cohorts have in the strength of democracy and in the resilience of the American spirit. Given his utter lack of faith, one can conclude that he is less of patriot than the so-called liberal subversives he intends to denigrate.

Summary: I have one word to share with you
Review: ....about Michael Savage, and about this book: FILTH. I glanced through this at a brick & mortar book store and felt dirty just handling the book full of ignorance, lies, and hate. Any person who would lower themselves to the level of Savage by reading or buying this book needs to seriously re-examine their intellect, their morality and their mental health. People who find this rubbish appealling probably like snuff porn or torturing small animals. This nauseating man and his spewed out filth is entirely what's wrong with America these days. He represents the worst of our culture and the reason so very much is going wrong. I hope the era of hate radio is coming to an end. I honestly don't think we can take much more.

Review: Hey my people, how ya'll doing today??? I was browsing my local bookstore one day for a good quality read and I'm sad to say I glanced down and saw this book. Is this the same nurdy guy that does that annoying "Savage Nation" talk show that my old, overweight boss at work makes me listen to every night?? Well as I started to reed the book, I soon found out that it iz indeed the same dude!! Folks, this is not political insight, this is lies, hate and slander!! If you want to read someone who has their head on straight, get any book or movie by Michael Moore, now he knows what is best for the country!! He also knows that the current war in iraq is just to try and make Mr. Bush look intelligent, and in control, but heckk, nothing could do that!!! Stop the lies and slander and don't buy this book!! Peace out peeps....

Summary: Michael Savage Tells It Like It Is
Review: The book was an amazing read. While you might not agree with everything that Michael Savage says, this is a thought provoking book that will definitely get you thinking about domestic and foreign policy in the United States. No person should base their beliefs, particularly their political ones, on one source, and the same can be said about this book. Michael Savage is said at times to say extremist comments to sell books and get viewers on his radio show, and as a conservative I too will admit that some of his thoughts may be questionable. Throughout the book he may have the tendency here and there to make and accusation without citing his beliefs. But there is no doubt that his reminisces at the beginning of each chapter will fascinate and entertain you. He winds up his talking points well, and covers a broad issue from immigration to Iraq. Cover to cover, this book is a great read for politic enthusiasts...

Summary: Recommeded for All Americans
Review: What a great book this is. Controversial radio personality Michael Savage does not beat-around-the-bush and plainly tells it like it is. He exposes the left-wing liberal agenda for what is--very dangerous and harmful to this country. He gives many, many examples of how the moral relativist mindset has eroded the fabric of our society, and speaks honestly about other issues relating to what is ailing our country. This book is is very funny and witty, yet informative. The PC crowd will hate this book, but for us freedom loving, free-speaking Americans, this book is long overdue. It's time for America to wake up and see what is happening under our very noses. Mr. Savage's book is the coffee that America needs to help us all wake up and see the mess we're in. We've slumbered in a hypnotic liberal-induced ignorance for long enough. Everyone should have a copy of this book!

Review: I flipped through this book and all I can say to you, unsuspecting readers is: beware of the right's dark side! Michael Savage is definitely not a nice guy. Calling him a "conservative" is too kind a word and an insult to decent conservatives. Savage is a dangerous radical, a delusional hate-monger who's only talent is his ability to spew venom against people in our society that are not his liking and promote further divisiveness among Americans. This book, as his radio rants, reeks of vitriol, untruth and hypocrisy. Besides being a mean-spirited hypocrite and raging lunatic, Savage's bigotry and refusal to accept basic democratic values make him also savagely un-American. Listen to the Savage rants on the radio if you want entertainment, but don't pollute your mind with his book. It will only encourage him.

Review: IT'S TIME TO WAKE UP, AMERICA! Savage explains in detail what's wrong today in America. I do not want to give out all the information on this book, but I ABSOLUTELY agree that the Left is full of hippies, neo-feminists (Man haters), black racists (NAACP) and Commies (limiting state government). This book may seem harsh at first and you may disagree with him completely, but I assure you that you'll embrace his views soon enough. I used to be a bleeding heart liberal and thanks to Ann Coulter, Tammy Bruce and Michael Savage I am exposed to my own hypocracy and thankfully am changing parties. WAKE UP AMERICA and JOIN THE REPUBLICANS! PS: RE-ELECT BUSH FOR 2004!
