Rating: Summary: Fantastic Review: I've seldom read a book that made me want to re-read it as soon as I've finished it. It had me laughing out loud. It was warm and funny, and sexy, very different form the run of the mill books. It's shows real imagination. Bravo.
Rating: Summary: Hilarious and Sexy Review: I absolutely love this book - it's one I'll read over and over again. Dara Joy did an excellent job of keeping the novel exciting, funny, sexy, and fast-paced. Unlike a lot of romance authors, she doesn't bore you with a lot of unnecessary detail to skim over. When detail is given in a Joy book, you know it will be a significant part of the plot in either this book, or the other books in this series.Dara Joy also did a great job of expressing how a woman of our day would feel if she suddenly found herself taken to another time/planet/dimension. Not to mention how torn you would feel when faced with choosing between your home and someone you've fallen in love with. And she manages to weave it throughout an extremely hilarious dialogue. This is the first novel in the Matrix series. It helps if you read them in order. Follow this one up with Rejar and then Mine to Take. More books are following - I definately recommend this whole series!
Rating: Summary: Not for those who think that women are as capable as men Review: Based on the reviews I found here I bought this book, and several others in the series. I was dismayed to realize that the hero never demonstrates any empathy for the heroine - he gets her into some terrible messes and seems to think it's his right to haul her along behind him like a child's toy. Many romances feature men with less than enlightened attitudes towards women, but they are usually redeemed by the hero's realization that the woman in question has many good qualities and isn't really an inferior. In this case, the misogynism/chauvinism never ends. If you find that you don't like books where the woman has absolutely no control over her own life and is treated like a mindless child, then I wouldn't recommend you read this one.
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: I had never read a book by Dara Joy, but I am really glad I found her books. I read the book entitled Rejar first and when I realized it was one of a series, I had to back up and read the first, Knight of a Trillion Stars. Both were funny, sexy and kept my attention all the way through, so of course I had to find and read the rest of her books, including those not tied to this series. I keep waiting for the next one and am on pins and needles waiting to see what happens next. I enjoy books with humor, strong characters that you can care about and perhaps a little magic. All of her books have these. If you read these reviews Ms. Joy, one of your fans is eagerly awaiting the next installment.
Rating: Summary: Didn't surpass the experience of her "Tonight or Never" Review: Fabulous, but nowhere near as stunningly sensual as Joy's "Tonight or Never". The male characters were wonderfully portrayed and Deana *did* have her moments but there was an atmosphere missing when I pictured her in my mind. Nevertheless, it was enjoyable reading and I can't wait to find the next one "Rejar" to get my mind into.
Rating: Summary: Very, VERY good, but unbelievable heroine Review: Now, I can believe almost anything in this book for the sake of fun. Alternate realities, shape changers, wizards, lots of FUN stuff, and wonderfully written as well. BUT. This heroine is supposed to be a science fiction writer. As such, doesn't she have SOME intelligence? She acts like she just stepped out of a bad sitcom. She uses just AWFUL, stupid language, and acts like a 3rd grader. So, every man that sees her is instantly crazy about her, including the "wise" wizard? This I just can't believe. Nobody acts like that in real life, and thank heavens! But, otherwise, this book is simply wonderful, and I have immediately ordered all her others.
Rating: Summary: LOVED IT!! LOVED IT!!! Review: I read this book in eight hours. I couldn't put it down! I laughed until I cried. And I was very happy that I wasn't going home to an empty bed that night. All in all, a fantastic book! Once I read this, I raced through all of Dara's other books, and am anxiously awaiting more!!!
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK! Review: I love this book. The author is very talented. I never thought i'd enjoy futuristic novels.I thouroughly enjoyed her other books too. Never a dull moment when you read Dara Joy's Matrix series. I fell in love with all the characters.
Rating: Summary: Dara Joy Creates the Perfect Men! Review: Dara Joy knows how to create wonderfully memorable characters. I couldn't help falling in love with Lorgin, though he be stubborn and even sexist at times. I long to be Deanna, discovering her own beauty and sensuality, and experiencing what it is to know and love Lorgin. Lorgin's naivete of our own world offers great amusement in the beginning of the book. When Deanna takes him to WorldCon, a real sci-fi convention if I'm not mistaken, it's hilarious! Then she gets to travel to his world, having her own awkwardness and uncertainty along the way. We meet Rejar, among other characters, in this first Knights of the Charl series, and he and Lorgin have some fun at Deanna's expense. You'll laugh throughout. Deanna is a fabulous woman. She cares so much for Lorgin, she's willing to give him up, sure she's not the woman he's meant to be with. Lorgin finds her belief frustrating, but tries to convince her otherwise. Their great love will remain in your heart and you'll be dying to start the next novel, REJAR. Don't miss the third in the series, MINE TO TAKE, either; I read that one first (I bought it before I realized it was part of a series), and I assure you Dara Joy never loses her touch of magic! I fall in love with all her men. They're what I want *my* man to be!
Rating: Summary: Funny and Steamy all in one! Review: I thought this book was great!!! I was actually laughing out loud at the humor and getting flustered at the love scenes! Great book I highley recommend it!!
