Summary: Nothing but The Truth Life Lessons
Review: This boy doesn't like his English teacher. So he started to hum the national anthem to make her mad, he did and got suspended, but things got worst for the teacher.

The boy, Phillip Malloy didn't like his new homeroom teacher so he started to hum the national anthem she told him to be quiet but for three days in a row he didn't listen and he got suspended.

Then he told his dad he got suspended for patriotism but he was really suspended for being rude and not obeying the rules so he tells a reporter and he publishes and everybody gets to read it and get mad at her. So he finally goes to a different school and they ask him to sing the national anthem. He cries and says "I don't know the words."

He had learned his lesson for lying and almost getting his teacher in fired.

Summary: nothing but a lie
Review: I like the documentory style of writing because it is different from all of the other styles of writing I have read. Another reason I like it is because you can get everyone's personal opinion.
There are many different types of writing documentarys. You can read out of peoples diary, read memos from the school board and principles office, listen into peoples telephone conversations, also read personal letters, and listen to diolouge.
You dont really have to miss the characters traits because you get them something even more. For example in the diary you learn peoples personal opinions and who they like and who they dislike and also who they have a crush on. So from your point of view there was nothing to different or wrong from all other types of writing styles.

Summary: irony-inside Nothing but the Truth
Review: Nothing but the truth is a facinating book about the first amendment rights. This book has many surprises in it.
It is about a boy named Philip Malloy, who wants on the track team,in order to join the track team you have to make passing grades. Philip does good in school for all except English. Philip beleives Miss Narwin, the English teacher, don't like him because he jokes around alot. Philip thinks if he ticks off Miss Narwin then he would get kicked out of her classand he would bring up his english grade. Miss Narwin isn't only Philips English teacher though she is also his homeroom teacher. Every Morning over the PA System the national anthem is played. Philip think if he hums real loud during the national anthem she would kick him out.
Philip was sent to the office many times because of this "miss-happening." He gets kicked out of Miss Narwins homeroom class but still in her English class. Philip had told his parents that the reason he got kicked out was because he was being patriotic.
Philips story got in the newspaper and now news casters all over the world had took up on this story. Now, not only Philips parents think that he was patriotic but the whole world thinks it.
At the end of the book, Phlip had moved to Washington academy, and Miss Narwin moved to Florida. The teacher at his new school told Philip that he would love it there because they sing the national anthem aloud every morning. After introducing Philip to the other students she told him that he could start them off singing the national anthem. Philip started crying. The teacher asked him what was wrong and he told her, "I dont kno the song."
This was a surprising ending to me. i would recomend this book to any one who would like to read about taking advantage of the amendments.

Summary: nothing but the truth documentary styles
Review: I, an eighth grade student at A.J. Lloyd middle school, do not appreciate the style of documentary writing in this piece. Here are several examples why.
One reason I don't like the way the book was written is because that only dialogue is expressed. If the book were written as a narrative story, thought and actions would be expressed. But, as it is, only words are expressed, and the intimate relationship between character and reader is not as developed.
Another reason is that the format is harder to follow than a narrative story. The paragraph form allows the writer's words to flow better. Your understanding of the story is ten times better with narrative.
Another reason is that you don't have to repeat names so often with the narrative form. I agree that the names are important, but not so you have to drill it into people's heads.
So, as an eighth grade student who likes narrative forms, I say this book's form is mediocre at best. It takes away from the understanding of the book.

Summary: Nothing but the Truth review
Review: In my review i chose to write about the irony of the book. In the book there are a lot of unexpected surprises that I didnt expect, for instance at the end the characters just moved away they didnt solve their conflicts with each other they just left. Also in the book I found dramatic irony because the characters would tell other characters something that we as readers know isnt true. For example, Philip would try to make his parents believe that it wasnt his fault that he was just being patriotic, but we knew that he was just trying not to get in trouble. The title does example irony because it is Nothing but the Truth and when you read you learn that Philip and someother characters definitely dont tell the truth. Overall I liked the book it taught a good lesson about truth and just what a lie can turn out to me.

Summary: Writing Styles of Nothing but the Truth
Review: The story, Nothing but the Truth, had a writing style that told me more than any other writing style. It was like none I've ever seen. This style showed documents, phone calls, and even writing styles, all with there own subtitle describing each one. By using this writing stylethe true characteristics were unfolded. It showed how each caracter reacted in every area, thats how you learn to appreciate writing like this one. It's strange how such an undescribed reaction piece could show you so much, even without the piece telling you how they felt. I truely prefer the way he described the charaters and how they felt without telling you. It let you use your imagination. Also, it brings your comprehension to a whole new level. So as you can see, there are many different writing styles. But it's everyones opinion of which is the best writing style. But there are just so many different kinds!

Summary: Surpises that are in the book ' Nothing But The Truth'
Review: In this book ther are a lot of surpises. Some of the surpises are unknown and amazing and others are shocking. Some of the surpises were was how Philip acted to get Ms. Narwin in trouble, he could have got out of a lot embarrassement and didn't have to go throgh all that trouble.
One surpise was when Philip sang the song at the beginning of the year and at the end of the year he didn't know the words of the song after there had been so much trouble cause of the National Anthem.
Another surprise when Ms. Narwin went to Flordia to vist her sister. I didn't think that she would resign because she was such a good teacher. I was also surprise when the Ted Barlow show when Ted put his own optains on the radio and was against the people who called and was not on Philip's side when he didn't even know the whole story.
That was some of the surpises in the book ' Nothing But The Truth'.

Summary: Nothing But the Truth
Review: I appreciate the Documentary Style That nothing but the truth is written in. The way that the book is written is different and unusual way that it is written. You learn the characters you can learn more about them. This is an interesting way it writes a story.
There are many different types of documents suck as: memos, phone conversations and face to face conversations, and Telegram sent.
I think that the writing styles fit the characters. Except the one. Philips Diary is not something that I think that he would have
In a way I miss the way that the author tells you about the person. It makes you have to read the whole thing to get the meaning

Summary: Irony in Nothing But the Truth
Review: There is an odd sense of irony to this book. It is entitled Nothing But the Truth, but the entire book is about how a high school student's lie ends up growing and causing problems for the student, Phillip Malloy, and the teacher, Miss Narwin.

The book starts out telling about a student who has a problem with his Eglish teacher. Their personalities conflict and cause disagreements. He wants to be on the school track team, but the school has a rule that all of a student's grades have to be above a C or else they can't participate in extracurricular activities and phillip has a D in English

To make matters worse, it is the end of the fall semester. This means that student's homerooms are changed and Phillip ends up with Miss Narwin, whom he hates. He hums the national anthem when it is played over the high school's intercom system and gets jumped on by Narwin.

When asked to stop the first time, he did, but the next time, he didn't, was sent to the assistant principal and suspended from school.

Phillip and his father go over to their neighbor, Ted Griffen's house to tell him about the recent occurrances at the school. They do this because Mr. Griffen is a candidate for the school board. There is a reporter there and she posts an article in the local newspaper about what Mr. Malloy tells Ted. Ms. Narwin starts getting hate mail from people she doesn't know.

I dislike the ending because it is boring and anticlimactic.

Summary: The Truth About Phillip Malloy.
Review: The writing style, is clippings of conversations between the characters. Also there is clippings of memos also there is pieces of Phillip's diary to bring it all together.
There was an unsespected twist in the book shuch as when Phillip is going back to school after his suspention most people would think that the kids was on his side but they was not.Almost all the kids was on Ms. Narwins side.
Also there was another unexpected twist in the book. It was when actually Phillip goes to the private school and he is asked to sing the starspangled banner. Then he says that he does not know the words.
Phillip does not plan for it to end tis way all he wanted to do is to get out of Ms. Narwins class.Phillip was wrong in lying the moral of the story is to never lie because it becomes a big problem. Everybody is on Phillips side but 6the kids are on Ms. Narwins side.
I give it a thumbs up, I think everybody should read the book. (...)
