Summary: nothing but the truth
Review: From this book you can learn lots of things about "Nothing but the Truth."In this book Phiplip stand up for himself. The only reason he did that was to get back at hes teacher. You can learn that sometimes talking to a reporter ant the best idea to do.
They can make a story about the situation and some of it won't be true. They can make newspapper and everybody buys one. When they hear what happen they start making a big problem. People from schools and people out of states blame the teacher say that "she should be fired."and like it's all her fault.
The teacher get hurt when she had nothing to do with the suspended, and they are trying to get her to retired. They make a paper saying what happen and what's not true.Phiplip backs down by not going back to that school. He move to a other school and Miss Narwin the teacher retires and goes live with her sister. There are alot of things you can learn from this book.

Summary: Nothing But The Truth
Review: In this book you can learn alot for character. Like for example when you tell a lie then it messes up and screws up a whole lot of things you should tell the truth in the end. You can learn in this book to stand up for your rights. For example Phillips father told him to because he thought that Phillip was singing. So Phillip went back the next day and the next day and kept on humming. You can' t learn anything from backing down from a bad situation because Phillip never does. You can learn parental support because Phillips parents always supported him like when they thought he was singing the Star Spangeled Banner. You can learn about the 1st Amendment rights because freedom of speech is put into this book. You can' t learn responsibility because no one ever shows it in this book. You can learn chain of command because he went to the prijncipals office twice for humming.

Summary: Nothing But The Truth
Review: My character is Philip Malloy. You can learn a lot of stuff from Philip. The biggest thing you can learn is to tell the truth.
Philip lide alot in the story to his teacher and the public. When it got to the public it made a big nousence. He got a lot of letters from the press and other people thinking he was doing a patriotic thing and they thought the teacher (Mrgeret Narwin) was not. He was not being vary patriotic when he was huming the Star Spangled Banner rudly to get out of her class.

3days he humed the Star Spangled Banner. On the third day he was suspended from school for two days. His parents made a fuss about it cause they thought he was being patriotic. Thats when the trouble started. It was brodcasted on radios all over the nation.

Thats the story of Philip Maloy.

Summary: "Lessons Learned"
Review: I have learned from the novel,"Nothing But The Truth." What I have learned are things I should always remember.
One thing I have learned is to stand up for what I believe in.I've learned that if I believe something is right or wrong I should express my feelings.
Another thing,I've learned to have a good character:you shouldn't lie.I learned this from Philip Malloy.Philip didn't really tell the truth and his friends didn't like him for that and that forced him to move to another school.
I've learned more things from Philip Malloy, but those are the two most important things that I learned by reading,"Nothing But The Truth."Philip Malloy isn't a good person in the book, but he's a good person to learn from.

Summary: *Lessons Learned*
Review: In the book, Nothing But the Truth you can learn alot of lessons on character. For example, you learn that Philip can't even for once actually tell the truth. He lies to the nation by telling them he got in trouble for showing his patriotism.
Philip in deed had parental support but all for the wrong reasons! This character has no real parental support because they don't know the real reasons for the fuss.
Philip at the end learned a lesson. He learned that the fuss he made was a joke cause he didn't really know the words to the Star Spangled Banner.
Alot of lessons were learned in Nothing But The Truth!!

Review: What i think about the story line is that the story was good
but good but wat i did not under stand about the end was when he whent to sing the national antem and he said i dont now the words.

THe story is is not realistic but it could of been in the story they talk in the radio about a kid that got suspended for singing the national antem the deayail was realistic.

I would recommend the book becouse the book is interesting becouse it gives you a clue try your best at every class at school and it could help kids ho got problem it my help you find another way to pass a class if you dont like it at all.

Summary: Mediocre at best.
Review: I found this book mediocre at best. The plot - a boy was suspended for singing "The Star Spangled Banner," sending the United States into outcry and wreaking havoc on the school board - obviously had good intentions, but the book just didn't capture it. Overall, this was a book about misunderstandings, not patriotism.

Written through conversations, letters, and diary entries, this book gives you very little to go on when you first begin, but overall, it isn't difficult to keep the characters straight, but your view of the characters is very torn. The dialogue of the characters doesn't change much, but they remain predictable. Because this is written in a school setting, the dialogue matches the setting, but not really the conflicts. It is, for the most part, written in a high school. While it draws some parallels to high school in real life, isn't entirely believable. The characters' actions, for the most part, remain constant, but the main character, Phillip, changes quite a bit. For instance he goes from a brazen freshman (when he first tries to test out his new teacher) to a more sullen, withdrawn teenager (when he finds his mischief has gone too far and become misinterpreted) in the course of the book.

We really don't learn much about the settings in the book, aside from the fact that it takes place somewhere in the early nineties. This is evident through one of the big school budget plans - getting computers for the school. The characters are properly placed (as far as dialogue and actions) and the order of events stays consistent, and although there are mixed messages about what actually happened that caused Phillip to get suspended, this adds to the message of misunderstanding.

This book moved a bit slowly for its genre and didn't really catch my attention - I felt like I was reading a flat script and wasn't immersed in the plot. I also didn't like the ending. While it lets you come up with your own conclusions, it doesn't really wrap things up. Both Phillip and Miss Narwin (the teacher who got him suspended) don't really resolve their problems.

Overall, while this book has a good message - through the help of the media, selective information (as opposed to the unbiased truth) and a few misunderstandings can cause catastrophic damage - it doesn't do a good job presenting it.

Summary: BORING
Review: This book is so incredibly repetitive that I soon lost interest. In almost every page, they repeat the same thing over and over. They recap the story continuously and rarely get anywhere. I say don't waste your time, there are other great books out there.

Summary: Telling the truth will set you free
Review: Young adults will enjoy this story because they may know someone like Philip or at one time may have felt like Philip. Young Philip's problems get worse before they get better. This element is characteristic of a young adult novel. His relationship with his peers and teachers are affected by his actions. The resolution to his problems are not necessarily the solution that Philip would have liked. Avi's unique style of writing of a documentary is a quick read. The format of the journals, letters, and memos are a unique way of presenting this type of novel. The reader feels as if they are reading the private letters and journals of the character. Any young adult will get wrapped up in the suspense of this documntary and will keep them reading to find out what happens next.
