Summary: A must to read!
Review: I have read Tamora Pierce's two previous series' and loved them. I was looking for a good book to read and found this, and figured i might give it a try. (I really like her books.) It was wonderful! I went on to read Tris's book, and I'm anxiously awaiting Daja's book. If you liked any of Tamora Pierce's previous books, you'll love this. Even if you haven't read her previous books, if you like magic and good books, you will like this one.

Summary: The best of the best
Review: This book is, in my opinion (no flames from Alanna lovers please!), the best book Pierce has written. I also loved Briar's book and the Alanna series. The Circle of Magic quartet is different from the Alanna, Kel, and Daine quartets in that there is much less action and more character develop- ment. There are also less romances, which I like. I just could not see Daine and Numair together in 'The Immortals'. With George and Alanna, well, that's different. I like that the teachers and students in this book stay just that-teachers and students.

Summary: an awesome start to an awesome series
Review: This book is really, REALLY good. I like this series much better than the Tortall series. I enjoyed the characters, and felt that, even though the action had to be divided between all four of them, they were each defined and developed. When you can predict what the characters will do in any given situation, it means they have become real for you, and I got that from this book. 5 stars for sure.

Summary: I think that this book is interesting.
Review: Some of the previous reviewers say that this book is one of Tamara'a worst. I don't think so, it's just different. Yeah, I miss Tortal, Jonathon, Allana, Daine, and Numair, but I don't think that the setting for 'Circle of magic' is bad. And the characters are interesting and unique. I would recomend this book to all readers who are willing to give a 'non-Tortal' book a chance.

Summary: If you read her other books, you shouldn't read this one.
Review: I was very dissapointed. I loved the Alanna series, and I thought the Immortals was pretty good, but there's no getting around it: THIS ONE S**KS. It's not the different setting I object to. And the plethora of main characters is only moderatly bad. It's mostly her writing style itself that dissapoints me. In this series the characters are flat, the descriptions are uncolrful, and the character development obvious. It's not the worst series in the world, but it can't come close to the firey, facsinating world of the Song of the Lioness.

P.S.Don't lose all hope, I just read her newest book, Protector of the Small. It seems to have potential.

Summary: I loved this book when I first saw it.
Review: Okay, I was bored. I leave study hall and go to the library. Looking for something to read, I went to the fantasy section and spotted this book. Picking up and reading the back, I thought,"This book looks good, I think I'll read it." I check it out and go back to study hall. During the next two days, I was absorbed in the rich content and awesome power of this book. I felt drawn in, as if I was one of the characters. I can't wait to read the other books in this series.

To Tamora: Keep up the great writing! Your books are some of the best I've ever read!

Summary: Less typical than the Alanna series
Review: I wasn't expecting much when I picked up Sandry's Book (due to my dislike of the Lioness and Immortals Quartet) but was pleasantly surprised.

Sandry's Book is a light and fun fantasy read, lacking the somewhat crude and generic elements to be found in in the aforementioned quartets. The characters-- Sandry, Daja, Briar and Tris are interesting, if slightly flat, protagonists and show more realistic character development than did Alanna. The plot, while basic (wary characters becoming friends and saving the world, etc.) is nicely expanded upon and contains little typical swords-and-sorcery. If the characters never really show any idiosyncracies and their talents are fairly obvious to start off with, well, it's forgivable in a fun story. Try it for summer reading. If you'd like to see more subtlety, better developed characters and a thoroughly original plot, however, definitely give Sherwood Smith's Crown and Court Duet a try.

Summary: Thank You!
Review: The other reviews may say that it's only a four star, but that's compared to other Pierce books. It's not HER best, but if you compare it to any other books, it's magnificent. Trust Me. Oh, and by the way, if you think that this is too simple a plot, then you haven't looked deep enough.

Summary: A Little Disappointing
Review: I agree with some of the other readers, this book was quite a disappointment. In her other stories, Tamora Pierce wove together an enchanting web of romance, adventure, wit and magic. Unlike her previous books, this series didn't allow time for the reader to 'get acquainted' with a single character. Instead, it switched fomr here to there and gave a bit of information on each...but it was hardly enough for me to really get interested. I missed Tortall too, but that's not why I didn't like it. It simply didn't compare to the excellent books she wrote before! It wasn't 'trash,' but it wasn't a hit either.
