Rating: Summary: Do not waste any money on this book. Review: If you have listened to Michael Savage's radio show, "The Savage Nation", then you know exactly what kind of ring-winged rhetoric nonsense this man is capable of. This book rehashes his same egocentric views.First, anybody who throws all liberals into the same basket is automatically a narrow-minded buffoon. Just because there are people out there who have different opinions than his, Savage constantly generalizes, never making any concessions for liberals who are not extreme leftists. Instead he makes the claim that all liberals are anti-American and evil. I seriously wonder how he made it through college. Did he not learn anything? How can he state that human morals must come from Christianity? There are millions of people in this country who do not practice any form of religion, yet still retain morals which make them law-abiding and honest citizens. Please do not buy this book. Do not waste your money and contribute to his pocket. His so-called facts are not backed up, and his lunatic views are ridiculous and dangerous to this country. This man lives in the fantasy world of his mind.
Rating: Summary: All the more reason to buy this book! Review: I find it rather interesting that the Liberals come out in droves to bash Mr. Savage's book. Is it any surprise the majority of negative reviewers are from typically Donkey States? Dearest Mike, you certainly struck a nerve! The so-called conservatives who bash the book are obviously Liberals in drag. I love it! Now WHO is really doing the "whining" here? Truth truly does hurt doesn't it?
Rating: Summary: He needs to stick to radio Review: If you've never heard any Savage and you don't get him locally then this will do. If you've heard him on the radio a few times then this is nothing to write home about. He doesn't translate into the written word well. It makes him look kind of weird. It's much better to hear than to read.
Rating: Summary: Don't waste your time. Review: Rant, rant, rant... this book is not worth the pages it's printed on. A bunch of oversimplistic opinions based on lack of knowledge.
Rating: Summary: Advice for Conservatives from a Liberal Review: As a liberal who read Michael Weiner's quite provocative (and poorly researched) book, I find it interesting that some reviewers will revoke the legitimacy of liberal reviews simply on the basis that they give the book a poor rating. While assigning negative personal attributes to members of opposing political parties is an excellent way to increase group cohesion (ask Hitler), it's also immature. It should not be tolerated from either side, left or right. In this country we respect diversity of opinion as a necessary function of democracy.... My point is, Michael Weiner bases his book on demonization, not facts. He does not cite sources, he does not provide references, he simply rants. And these are not deeply intellectual rants. These are rants that illustrate why he should be practicing herbal medicine (where is degrees are) rather than exploring a field that he is unqualified to discuss. I am happy to debate politics with conservatives, and most are happy to debate with me, but Michael Weiner is not politically intelligent, for the left or right. If you are a conservative, please read something intelligent, at least. Read Francis Fukuyama or Milton Friedman. Read someone with a degree in political science or economics or sociology, but don't read the rabid rantings of a paranoid. If you want to be a conservative (and that's fine by me) please properly educate yourself. No one likes a stupid liberal, and you know what? No one likes a stupid conservative either. It DOES work both ways. So, go out there, read something worthwhile and THEN debate with the liberals.
Rating: Summary: Better Stick to Radio Review: Full Disclosure: I am not a neoconservative, and generally disagree with 'Dr.' Savage. I am, however, a fan of his radio show. His delivery is bombastic, his energy high, and there's something irresistible .... Besides that, there is the interplay with the callers, with whom he does his best to disagree. (You can almost see him cringing in the studio when the callers agree with him too much.) The trouble with this book is that it's horrible to read. I'm not kidding. It's awful. It's as if someone simply distilled and transcribed his radio show, and rather sloppily made a book out of it. Do you really think 'sheeple' is funny in print? As a reviewer from New Mexico put it, Savage's radio act doesn't translate well. I'm sure some paranoid conservatives think my opinion of this book is based on it's political content, but I had a similar (though not as intense) reaction to the late Paul Wellstone's book, "The Conscience of a Liberal", which suffered from the same problem. My advice to energetic, dynamic political speakers? Stick to speaking, and leave the writing to the Christopher Hitchens' and William Saffires of the world.
Rating: Summary: Save your money Review: This book was a waste of time and money. A disappointment.
Rating: Summary: The Truth Exposed Review: Having been raised is a socialist country and having been fed liberal lies similar to the ones fed to America, I was first shocked, but then later absolutely delighted to find Michael Savage and his book. If you truly have an open mind and are not too far gone to be rescued, the Savage Nation will open your eyes and make you want to shout out loud : Yes !! Finally someone who is not afraid to tell the truth.
Rating: Summary: This is not a book Review: There are no bibliography to back up his quotes and stats. Didnt this guy learn anything in his college class...cite your sources. It's just a bunch of rants bounded in a book.
Rating: Summary: Racist rhetoric... Review: This book does not deserve even one star but Amazon will not let me give a zero rating. I will admit that I lean towards the left so I read this book in an attempt to balance my opinion. I found this book unintelligent, offensive, filled with racist views and shortsighted exaggerations. Very mean spirited. His views on immigration are very disturbing. You would think after reading them that ALL of his ancestors were born here. He talks about the media being dominated by liberal extremists and the right not having a voice. This is an example of some of the absurd misinformation that the right has been broadcasting for years. The most disturbing thing however is that so many people are not alarmed with this type or rhetoric. I applaud his willingness to speak his mind and give voice to the "inhibited" right media because this it is a free country. However, based on what he says I think that Mr. Savage may be happier living in a fascist country were every one is forced to think, look, feel and act that same...
