Summary: Wonderful!
Review: I have watched John Edward's show on Sci-Fi since it first came on. I wanted to know about the man himself. At first I almost didn't get this book because I thought it would be readings which I've seen plenty of - but I'm so glad I got this. John talks about growing up, and his family - not in boring detail, but in pertinent terms as his abilities grew, up until the time he found his niche and decided to do it full time. He does relate a great deal about his beliefs about crossing over. He also has some readings that were meaningful to him and that underline how he sees things that we can all see. In the end is a section on developing your own psychic abilities which I didn't think I'd be interested in, but it was very good. Because my Mother just passed recently, this book gave me a great sense of peace, and I recommend it for that alone.

Summary: Not as good as I expected
Review: As a new viewer to Crossing over, I was very anxious to get this book. I was interested in how John recognized his abilities, and more importantly, how does he communicate with the afterlife. This book answered all my questions in the first few chapters, which I whipped through in a few hours. Very interesting. But I was disappointed with the rest of the book. It was only descriptions of his readings with different people. A little too much of this if you ask me. Kind of like watching "Crossing Over" over and over and over again. I wanted to get more insight on the afterlife, as he sees and hears it.

Summary: Very well written and interesting book
Review: As a curious skeptic in psychic phenomena, I read this book with more and more curiosity.

HAVING SEEN JOHN EDWARD'S TV SHOW, I was interested on how one becomes a medium or realizes how a person has these abilities. This book does a nice job of answering those questions. From a young age, John Edward, had some different psychic experiences and was raised in a household where his mother was very much into mediums. However, this by far was not the norm for his Catholic upbringing. He does a really nice job describing how this happened and how he entered into this unusual profession.

THROUGH VARIOUS REPEATED READINGS AND EXPERIENCES John Edward has learned to improve his skill at communicating with those who have passed over. Despite his best efforts, this included his own mother. He describes how the spirits communicate with him through symbols and sometimes not at very convenient times.

THIS BOOK HAS MANY EXAMPLES AND SITUATIONS WHERE HIS SKILL WAS TESTED AND HE REPEATEDLY STRESSES THAT THE SPIRITS CONTROL WHAT IS HAPPENING. This is important to note, as when people go for a reading it can be very different than they expected. This was evident in a number of the examples in his book. Also the fact that spirits may have manipulated the circumstances around a reading, shows who really is in charge. He has some wonderfully involved situations that developed where people needed help and the spirits endeavored to provide this.

EXCELLENT READING: John Edward does a nice job of not only describing the path he has taken and why, as well as discussing several circumstances where spirits have guide his and other's paths. He also provides in the last part of the book how you can possibly make yourself open for these experiences. Excellent reading for those curious skeptics as I am and other believers. For those strict non-believers, this is not a book about proof. Michael Schmicker's Best Evidence would be better for you.

Summary: An interesting book
Review: This book is comforting to anyone who has recently lost a loved one. It is nice to think we may someday be with them, but I do not know if Edwards is the real deal. But I'll keep an open mind.

Summary: A Great Push For Belief
Review: If you are wondering "if" there is life and "if" your loved ones ARE watching and hearing you, then get this book! What a great book! It re-stablishes (even more so for me) to know that my loved ones ARE HERE WITH ME...and I can speak with them any time I want. It has built faith - it also made me realize to not focus on death as much as I used to (wondering where my loved ones are, etc.) but to focus on life!! Life is where it is at while we are here - we. too, will be there on the "other side" soon enough so enjoy this now and talk to your "missed" loved ones any ole time!! There are with you! Thanks John!

Summary: I'm a believer
Review: John Edward has a truly amazing gift that he has chosen to share with the world. I've seen his show, I've read this book, and I've seen him live, and I believe that his gift is real. If you're new to John Edward's abilities and want to know who he is and what he does, get this book (and watch the show, Crossing Over with John Edward, on the sci-fi channel!). If you are familiar with John Edward and want more stories and want to know how he got to where he is now, get this book. And if you're a skeptic...get this book. John himself was a skeptic, and he remains skeptical about much of the "psychic phenomena" that gets bandied about by telephone psychics and tarot card readers. Let him convince you.

Get this book.

Summary: An Eye Opener
Review: As a fan of John Edwards "Crossing Over", reading his book was a natural step for me. He so named this book because of the sadness of losing a loved one, and he thought "Wouldnt it be nice to talk to your loved one One Last Time?" In this book he tells of his youth and how he came to be a medium, then on into the beginnings of his career, and it includes many sessions that he has had. For the curious, the skeptic, and the believer alike, this book will open your eyes to the possibilities that you never thought existed. Had I had the choice I would have rated this book ten stars.

Summary: It will make a true believer out of you!
Review: John Edward brings messages from people who have crossed over from this life to the next. A devout skeptic, I am wary of anything I can't see, feel, touch,or smell. After seeing his nightly broadcasts on the sci-fi channel which airs between 8 and 9 pm on Sunday and 11 pm until 12 am Monday through Thursday, I decided to read his biography. This man is as down to earth and real as any one. I recommend this book.

Summary: A true believer
Review: I found the book to be very informative. It kept me glued to it form cover to cover. I've lost three people within the past five months, one of them a child. It made me feel better about the fact that we never really come to a solid final nothing, we just pass to a different level.

Summary: Is it a scam?
Review: ...I don't know, but it's a very entertaining and interesting book just the same. I don't generally buy into the whole spiritualist guru-psychic medium thing. It generally looks pretty fake and ridiculous to me. This guy caught my eye though. Nothing mystical looking or sounding about him. Just an average Joe. No big colorful robes or claims of gypsy heritage. I watched his show for a few months and though didn't become a definite believer I realized that either he was legitimate or running a massive and elaborate hoax that might be more unlikely than his psychic claims. So I wasn't too skeptical when I picked up the book. You can't go wrong if you are a fan of the show and find it at all captivating. The stories are the most interesting of his experiences since about age 15. Nothing vague like '' Okay did he eat lots of raisins? Okay he's pulling back...Does anybody have a Pumpkin farmer that's passed?'' It's the most engaging, powerful examples of his career. Also kind of a short autobiography, discussing his planned career in health care, Mother's death, and his early 'career' as a psychic before that. I think that even if you are a skeptic, if you are just interested, it really is an engaging book and a great read. It is well written, easy to follow and good even if you want to think of it as a story book. I highly recommend it, it was one of my most enjoyable reads.
