Nothing but the truth
A ninth grade student Philip Malloy who attends Harrison High School was suspended for humming the Star Spangled Banner and disrupting Ms. Narwins class 3 times in a row. Phillip doesn't like Ms. Narwin because she gave him a D in English. The whole community got involved with Philip getting suspended and think he's suspended for singing the Star Spangled Banner, but really he hummed the Star Spangled Banner, Disrupted the class and had a chance to apologize with out getting suspended. Richard's friends are all against him because they all like Narwin and think she's the best teacher and Ms. Narwin's Colleagues are against her.
I disliked the fact that Dr. Duval did not print Ms. Narwins side of the story. That was really mean and inconsiderate to do to someone even though they know how much trouble the poor lady is going through, he had enough guts to not print it and let everyone hear the truth about the suspension incident of Philip Malloy. If I were Dr. Duval and Narwin asked me to print her side of the story, that would be the first thing I would do because that poor lady is basically being tormented by all the people who don't know the true story. Plus it would have turned everything around to the truth and not lies. Plus Ms. Narwin trusted him to print that for her and he put her down, which was pretty rude.
I would give the novel a 7 out of 10 because I didn't like the fact that reporters or anyone else would not want to hear Ms. Narwin's side of the story. Everyone was being so mean to her and she didn't do anything. And I don't get how people can just write mean letters to her work. Another reason is the ending I didn't like how it ended because it was a poorly written ending.

Summary: Nothing but the Truth
Review: Nothing but the Truth

Nothing but the Truth by Avi is a book about a student that attends Harrison high school in New Hampshire. His name is Philip Malloy and he loves to run, and loves track. One day Philip decided to show some extreme patriotism and sing along with the "Star Spangled Banner' along with his schools P. A. The school didn't like the idea too much and Phillip decided to defend his honor and his country. It all come back to stab him in the back, and takes a turn for the worst.

I Thought that this book was a good book but it could have been better by putting a little more drastic actions in it. The book was mostly just talking and having conversations and it kind of made the book boring at times. The book could have been a lot better if it wasn't the same talking and fighting over and over again. But when I looked at the main idea of the book I realized that it made a very good point and this kind of stuff happeneds all the time in school.
I would rate this book a 5 out of ten. I thought that the book could of been a lot better at certain times. Since it seemed like it was the same thing over and over again. I liked how the book was written out like in an actual conversation and how it would be said in real life. This makes the book a lot easier to understand. When it comes down to things like understanding how people are feeling at the time and what they are thinking. That is my rating on this book and what I thought.

Nothing But The Truth!

Philip Malloy a ninth grader at Harrison High School was suspended for sing the National Anthem. Philip and his parents went to talk to one of the school board members Ted Griffen and a local reporter. Philip told the reporter and Ted Griffen his side pf the story about the incident. A local newspaper article was printed based on Philip's point of view. Ms. Narwin the classroom teacher involved never got to have her side of the story printed. What do you think will happen next?
Some of the things that I liked about this novel are that they make you want to think what is going to happen next. They also make good points in the story that requires you to think what is going to happen next. What I mean be this is like in the book when Ms. Stewarts is interviewing people but how she does not put everything in the article. Which leaves you wondering how people will react to the article.
If I were to rate this book out of ten I would give this book an eight out of ten. The reason I would give it that is because the book had its ups and downs. Also I would like to see this book be a little more out of the ordinary. When I say out of the ordinary I mean like there should be more to the story then just about the suspension. But if you like books that make you think this is a good book to read.

Review: Nothing But The Truth
Have you ever stretched the truth in any situation? Well Philip Malloy did. He was an average student at Harrison High, until he decided to make a nuiscence of himself during class, and started a big riot. His 9th grade teacher Miss Narwin kicked him out of class for humming the National Anthem, while he refused to stop after being asked plenty of times. A day later he got suspended for doing the same thing after being asked to stop many times from his teacher. Sooner or later people were making a huge deal out of it, and begging for Miss Narwin to get fired. But what people don't know is that Miss Narwin has a whole different side of the story to tell, rather than Philips exaggerated story.
What I like about this novel is the fact that I can relate to the whole situation. Mainly because I'm in high school, and Philip likes to do the opposite of what teachers ask him to do. Which a lot of Teenagers like to do. The thing I dislike about the story is that they never let Miss Narwin tell her side of the story. It would have made the story a lot more interesting to have people see that Philip exaggerated the whole incident.

I would rate this book a 9 out of 10. It kept me interested throughout the whole novel, and asked me to make predictions of what will happen next. I didn't rate it the highest because there was a whole different side of the story that wasn't told, and it was mainly about one certain person. The beginning of the book started off by not making a lot of sense, but as you read through it you realize how Philip and Miss Narwin's relationship is, and becomes very interesting.

Summary: Wesley23 Review
Review: The plot of this book was very interesting. I think this book is one of the most realistic I've ever read. I think it's realistic because it has believeable characters, a believeable problem and resolution, and a believeable ending. It's not one of those books that everything good happens to the main character of the story. I think books like this keep the reader guessing until the end. This book has pessimism in it as well. A little bit of the plot has some positives in it, but it has more negatives in it than positives. Also, this book, unlike some books, doesn't have a fairy-tale ending. It has an ending that would most likely happen in the real world.
The characters in this book seem to fit the plot well. You have Philip, a normal teen who loves track. Then you have Miss Narwin, a very educated lady who is a good person. Then you have Philip's parents who spoil him rotten, but care deeply for him. Also, you have Philip's friends who kid around and make jokes a lot. Then you have Allison Doresette, who seems to be a scholar. And then you have all the principals and a superintindent who are only worried about budget cuts. And don't forget Mr. Lunser--the goof-off teacher. There are others, but these are pretty much the main ones. You can tell the characters have been thought out well.
This book is loaded with irony. Philip wanted to be on the track team so bad, and when he switches schools for track (being one of the main reasons) they don't have it at that school. Also, Miss Narwin felt she should leave because of Philip's actions; Philip left also. Philip wanted to get out of her class the whole story and when he finally does he transferrs schools. Another way this book shows irony is that Philip didn't know the words to the "Star-Spangled Banner." He became nationally known for singing it and when he is asked to sing it in his new school he doesn't because he doesn't know the words. And last, but not least, the name of this book is Nothing But the Truth when it is filled with lies.
The writing style of this book is different from most other books. It is a documentary novel. This means it is nonfiction and is made of documents. It has no narration either. In some ways I like this style of writing, but in other ways I don't. I like it becauseit's easier to read and it lets you know who, what, when, and where something happens. I don't like this style of writing because it doesn't give you a good picture in your head. You don't know what anything looks like, unless it's mentioned in the dialogue or something else. It doesn't describe things well. But, all in all this was a pretty good book.

Review: The plot of this book was very interesting and realistic. This book was negative because if you notice nothing good happened in it. It was all about lies.
I would have liked to got to know the characters better. Over all though I liked the way the characters acted. I didn't like Philip's mom or dad because they spoiled Philip way to much.
I liked the writing style pretty good. I thought that is was a wierd way of writing a book but it was cool.
I think that you should buy this book! It is very interesting. I enjoyed reading this book and I hate reading.

Summary: Nothing but the truth
Review: I think Nothing but the truth is a really good book because it has real life problems. I thought there were some negitive parts in the book but they just went along with the story.I also think it had a good ending but it could have been better.
I also thiught the book had good characters. My favorite teacher probably would hane been Mr.Lunser because he just really let the students do whatever they wanted to do.Mrs Narwin was alright but she was too old fashioned.Philip, I thought was a pretty good kid except he joked around alot.He probably wouldn't have got in trouble if his parents didn't tell him to keep singing.Philip's parent's wouldn't have told him to keep singing if he would have told them the truth.

Summary: Nothing But The Truth Review
Review: The plot in this story was pretty good, it could have been better. It showed real life situations for example of Philip got suspenion for acting up. I think it could happen because it shows what would happen and the decisions that could be made.
The characters were really good, except for they didn't explain what they looked like but Philip described what he thought miss Narwin acted like, the other students also described her character but as a nice teacher, Philip described her as a mean teacher. Philips character was mostly selfish because he wanted everything to go his way.
The irony in this book was when Philip wanted to get out of Miss Narwins class and he finally did and then he left anyway Miss Narwin did also. Another ironic thing was when Philip went to Washinton Acadamey and they didn't have a track team.
The writing style was interesting because ti was in documentery format. It was also neat because some of it was transcripts, letters and memos.
This book was a very itneresting book I think I'd read another book like this, I'd even read this one again.

Summary: Nothin But the Truth, A great book
Review: Overall I would have to say this was an awesome book. The plot was good, but I did'nt think it was very realistic. In a situation like that I think matters would have been handled differently.
The characters of the book shwoed a very strong personality, but is did'nt tell much about their physical features. It ownly, most of the time gave the side of what other people thought of them and not them actual selves.
This book also showed lots of irony. For one how he didnt know the words of the national anthem after being nationally known for patriotism. Also the name of the book being, Nothing But the Truth and the book was full of lies.Another was when he wanted to be on the track team so bad and he transferred to a school without a track team.
I really liked the writing style. The way the book was written in a document form. It was alot more organized than other books.I liked the way it contained conversations, speeches, and phone conversations as well.
If you havent read this book, I would highly reccomend that you do so. It is a great book, and one in which you will learn many lessons from.
